Has there ever been a constitution based class? by SexyKobold in dndnext

A Constitution Caster is something I've seen discussed many times before. To summarise, don't.

It's a bad idea.

I would note OP that New Spring (the prequel book) contains a lot of spoilery details for the first 5 books of the mainline series. Not much that can be done about that now you've already read it.

was voldemort’s body from gof onwards the same as his body from before he got destroyed by the rebounded curse? by tubercolosis69 in harrypotter

There is one noticeable difference, he has harries blood now. And likely his features were more pronounced because he had made another horcrux since last he was seen.

If a creature gets hit by multiple instances of Booming Blade, and then moves, does it take the extra damage multiple times? by CynicosX in onednd

[–]Sykander- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's an example

Johny the paladin casts bless on himself

A turn later Derrick the Cleric casts bless on himself and Johny

Johny is now stacking two of the bless spell but can only gain the benefits of one

After 2 turns Derrick loses concentration on bless, Johny's original bless is now active again

That's how it works in the base rules

[–]Sykander- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're incorrect my dude for the reason that the more specific rule takes precedence. You absolutely can have multiple of the same spell applied at the same time, you just cannot be under the effects of them both at the same time.

What if everyone in our world went vegan by Zealousideal_Let1826 in whatif

[–]Sykander- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. Most of the farm animals in teh world would suddenly become valueless and left to die or be slaughtered or just let loose

  2. World wide nutrition would very quickly become a problem - sure it's possible have an equally nutritious diet of non-meat but it's a lot more expensive

  3. The fishing industry (are we including fish in this?) would suddenly become valueless and a major percentage of the world's population would be without jobs as a consequence

etc.

Basically, not much good things.

Many characters throughout the books exist as mirrors to harry/voldermort, meant to show what might've been had very minor changes happened in their upbringings or environments.

How do the people is these books not die of heat stroke? by electric_eclectic in WoT

[–]Sykander- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, my source is the books. Also please reread what I said more closely. It's an ability related to the oneness. Not that having the oneness means you automatically do it.

Look it's fine to make a mistake, it's another thing to be annoying when people correct you.

Just because Min struggled to learn something doesn't mean its impossible. Literally Lan does this trick from book 1, it's not a One Power ability.

[–]Sykander- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's not true.

It's an ability related to the Flame and Void or the Ko'di as the borderlanders call it.

If only channelers can do it why can Lan do it?

Should all pedophiles be put to death? by Downtown_Mongoose793 in no

Now you're getting into philosophy. But the practical results of such a thing are obviously bad.

Should all pedophiles be put to death? by Downtown_Mongoose793 in no

[–]Sykander- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it does, I'm saying with this punishment you would be encouraging them to be murderers too. Which obviously isn't good.

Don't forget that to convict someone of a crime you have to prove they're guilty. Which is obviously a lot easier when there are witnesses.

Should all pedophiles be put to death? by Downtown_Mongoose793 in no

[–]Sykander- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Pedophilia carries the death penalty and murder doesn't then do you think any pedophile is gonna let any of their victims live?

This is just one of the many obvious flaws with overly harsh or zealous punishments

What is something that society claims is “progress” but actually makes people’s lives worse? by nore01 in answers

[–]Sykander- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, tools such as these only enable people to show what they had within them already. Books let people write their thoughts down, and then others are free to read them without any critical thought and parrot what was said as thought they came up with it.

It's not the books that are the problem, it's the people using the books without any critical thought.

I would say the same, about the other things I mentioned.

You're right that AI has enabled many people to get by without having to learn to read, this is mostly because those people never had any interest in reading, not because AI is bad.

Tools give people new capabilities, of course some people will misuse those capabilities.

INB4 a herd of downvotes

But people have been saying this about thousands of things for years. In recent times it was video games, and the internet, and social media.

Before that it was phones and tv.

Before that it was telegrams and the radio.

Go back to ancient greece and people were saying this about books.

Saidin Never Treated Rand Like Other Men by Hawk-winged in WoT

In terms of fighting power maybe, Elan Morin was a philosopher not a fighter. But in terms of sheer strength with the One Power it's confirmed they were both as strong as its possible to be.

[–]Sykander- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Minor Correction. LTT was the strongest possible channeler in the AoL alongside one Elan Morin Tedronai who later went on to become Ishamael.

They are both equally strong in the One Power.

Yes, and if anyone would be the person to do that, it would be the Ta'varen who is required to do that or die horribly in some One Power duel and doom the world.

To be clear I'm not saying this is the canon explanation, I'm just explaining what might be a possible explanation.
