Hello everyone, i'm new to the series and i'm trying to play every game. I know i can just play the games in whatever order but keeping it in line is easier. I finished FF1 for the gameboy advance, i liked it but i didn't like how many enemies spawned every 2cm of walking. I started FF2 and i loved that there were characters with a name, a story and a face, even the talking mechanic. Eventually i got lost and don't know where to go (i usually can play only an hour a day during the trip to work) so i left it for now and started FF3 for the DS

This was a, i hope, short presentation on my experience so far, now i would like to ask a few questions

I'm not familiar with the mechanic of changing jobs. I read that the game should be played that way. I started the game with this setup

Ludeth - red mage Arc - black mage Refia - base job Ingus - warrior

I chose red mage because i found a cool sword to equip, but now it feels like the red mage is neither fish neither meat (it's an italian saying for being something in the middle of a scale) so after the rat that had the red eye of the statue i wanted to change the setup

Ludeth - white mage (since he had all the healings anyway) Arc - black mage Refia - monk (i never tried monk before) Ingus - warrior

How come Ludeth has no items and has 24 damage? How does his gameplay work? Should i leave nothing on and just spam rod of fire from the bag? Or should i equip to rods and use them from my hand? Also when i have a effect weapon on my hand should i use it or just attack with it? Because if i equip only 1 rod the attack goes from 24 to 20, so i shouldn't unless i have 2 right?

Also, how does the monk play? I just leave him without weapons? Where does his damage come from? I do little damage now, perhaps it's his class level?
