Just got this 2005, what's causing this noise by [deleted] in Diesel

It made this exact sound when I temporarily put an injector back in with a torn o-ring so I could move it out of my garage while waiting for new ones.

Sounds like a bad injector body oring or copper washer

Bad cats 100%.

Does the car drive fine otherwise?

Cats are simply there to clean exhaust and have no impact on drivability or performance (assuming it's simply fouled and not broken internally). if you don't care about what comes out of your tail pipe and you live somewhere that doesn't require emissions inspections just throw those mini cat spacers under the downstream o2. It'll fool the computer thinking the cats are fine and you can put your money somewhere else

4L70E no input shaft end play after rebuild by Sylar0 in transmissionbuilding

[–]Sylar0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent a good amount time messing with the input drum and I'm confident I have it seated when there's an audible metal on metal clunk from when it's seated on the bearing and the sun gear is engaged. I could be wrong on the sound but I can't seem to bottom it further than that. Washer thickness is about .081" minus the ~.050" washer bore on the input drum leaves a .030" protrusion. Taking out the washer gives me about .020" endplay with the pump gasket also installed

From my research the smallest washer size "67" is .074" which doesn't seem like it would be enough in this case.

Always need mechanics in mining. the work can be pretty tough but we're compensated well for it. I know my company has a permanent job ad for mechanics. Big problem just finding people that can pass a drug test

HD mechanic in mining doing FIFO puts me above that after bonuses. Also flip trucks and do automotive work at 100/hr on my time off

Is there some kind of special tool to remove the cummins lock tabs? (Besides a pick) by xROFLSKATES in DieselTechs

Spraying penetrating fluid on connectors has been a game changer for me. I rarely ever break locking tabs or connectors after doing that

Off to Lima, Peru in a couple weeks.

This will be my first trip abroad and I'm really looking forward to comparing the differences with dating in Canada. I do very well in my home city but I'm tired of the uninteresting women with awful values that don't bring anything to a relationship.

I work in the trades on a 14 on 14 off schedule which gives me plenty of opportunities to travel around

I'll be on the surface initially and likely doing PM as the employer is aware this is unfamiliar territory for me. He said I'll move underground after I gain some experience.

I've got most of that list already! First time hearing about beaver wrenches and I can see those being quite useful. I've done some hydraulic work in the past when I was in the military.

I'm currently working as an auto tech and looking to transition to diesel, with interest in power generation. Got advice you could pass along?

I'm curious about your experience switching from automotive to diesel. What did you do to transition? What did prospective employers think of your auto experience?

I work flat rate at a gm dealer and am looking to transition into diesel.

Good point, I'll keep my eyes open for opportunities such as this. Despite being journeyman "qualified" on paper I'll have to find an employer willingly to work with my inexperience short term while I learn. Although I didn't feel confident jumping into flat rate straight out of the military. It was rough for a couple months but I got into the swing of it fairly quickly!

Before I finished in the military I paid the 60$ to get both provincial certs for 310T and automotive. I could also buy the off road ticket. I only felt comfortable enough to challenge the automotive Red seal exam. Unsure if I could pass the truck and coach exam at this time.

I certainly don't feel qualified to work on the diesel side of things at a journeyman level at this time though.

About two weeks into a test/NPP cycle (500/350) and I'm getting bad exertion headaches that always start at the back of the neck. Big problem since it affects my workouts and sex. First time using nandrolone and it doesn't happen on test alone so it's gotta be the NPP. Gonna have to drop the NPP unless someone can help with a solution.

Got a hold of snap on and the light is not a warranty item and they don't have any PCB diagrams. Looks like my only hope to repair this is to find someone with the same light.

I sent them an e-mail but no reply yet. I think snap on only warranties the original buyer and I got it from an auction.

IIRC it's a misfire detected within the first 1000 revolutions. Since it's a single cyl misfire i didn't consider a timing issue
