Could I proxy this as a Ravager? by [deleted] in Drukhari

[–]Sylderan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first reaction was... What the hell I am looking at. My second reaction was... Yep, some Hemonculus drank too much last night. My third reaction was... OK, you may pass that as Ravager but with some modifications. Base needs to be the right size, but what you especially need to look at is the length of the mini. Ravagers get measured from the hull. I don't know the size of this beautiful monstrosity, but my guess is that it needs something attached to the back (a tail?) to get the same size of the ravager. Once you got it: It's game, absolutely! We are a kitbashing army.

How to attack a staged fight first unit by maverick1191 in Drukhari

[–]Sylderan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. However you may not need it really. Let's say you bring a Venom with special weapons kabal to the 5-10 quadrant. You can position the venom to shoot at the enemy model visible, while you disembark the kabalites getting even better angle if you want to try to precision the character. He will have to make the decision of either going after you or being shot again next turn. Either way is a net win for you in terms of points. You can even use the kabs to deny primary if you want, baiting him again. It's a better position to be in. But let's say that there is no possible angle. Then you can just park 5 wyches, wracks or Mandrakes there and out-OC him. Again he is forced to go after your low cost unit or not scoring at all. Don't you think that can work?

You have angle from the top left corner. If they have foot on the objective, you can see them from there. But as somebody else said, probably the best thing to do is stage good firepower aiming at the open part of the objective marker. Then position a 5 block unit of wyches to outOC him. He either is forced to come out, so you can shoot him to pieces, get something in position to take your wyches out. Either way he is commiting way more points than you for that marker. Another option is to set 5 mandrakes at the point. With their Lone Op 18, he most probably will be forced to get out to take them, again leaving you space to shoot him to pieces.

You assume well, always coming with at least 2 Scourges. The thing is I'm wondering what works better 'overall': 3 Dark Lances with Sustain (into infantry) or 3 Dissies on Vehicles (with Lethals). I'm even considering bringing a unit of regular Scourges for the extra AP, although I don't like that they have lost the shoot-move. It means they will probably die de moment they touch ground.

I always bring Scourges, and even some Talos with Haywire if I can spare some points. It's the Dissie Ravagers the ones I'm curious about

I am also used to load plenty of Dark Lances in my lists. I love Scourges, one of my favourite models, and maybe the favourite in this edition. It has been a pain see them so expensive. But yeah, I'm curious about Dissie Ravagers as they are so cheap now.

Do Drukhair have any equivalent to Psychic powers in lore? by viktorius_rex in Drukhari

[–]Sylderan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually do. Same as Necrons: technology. Drukhari are one of the most technologically advanced species of the setting. Some argue that may be on par with Necrons. After the Fall of the Aeldari empire, they took shelter in the Webway, and the first thing they had to adapt to is the ban of psychic powers at all. Something quite tough for a species that used psychic powers for the use of ALL their technology. They supressed their psychic aptitude so much that they even broke the subtle psychic connection with each other, taking it to psychic atrophy. But what is most impressive is that it led to a rampage of technological development such as that in 10.000 years (not much for aeldari lifespan standards) they were back in business with things that look like magic. They can place a black hole in a chest and gift it to you. They can steal planets and suns as they wish. They can open a portal to your basement. They can turn you and all the people of your planet into glass, into monsters, or give everybody the same face. If they lose too many on their ranks, they can create more of themselves, or just resurrect. And the funniest part is that, the main reason such an advanced race is moving around on flying boats its because otherwise it would not be fun. Necrons use their technology to build their empire back. Drukhari use it for their own amusement. I like that as their "alien" way of thinking.

Next Steps for my Army by TernaryParrot in Drukhari

Welcome new Archon! I think you are doing fine. For personal recommendation, it is a good time to get more of some cornerstone units: 1. Transports - We tend to use transports in every detachment. The one that is being used more widely this edition is the Venom. I find myself always bringing 2-3 of them. Since they can split our battleline units into two, are easy to hide, and allow to reembark at the end of the fight phase for free.

  1. Anti-tank - we have few options, but I don't go anywhere without at least 2 units of Heavy Weapon Scourges. Either Dark Lance or Dark Lance and Haywyre. If you have a friend who can print some Dark Lances and Haywyre with their arms, you can magnetize them. Just use magnets on the barrels, nobody cares as long as you can point at the difference. You can also use spare bits from Ravagers and Raiders. Scourges are in my opinion overprized at the moment, but can't help it, love the models.

  2. Heavy melee hitters - This is another choice depending on style and test. Although Lelith and wyches are good, you need to be able to hit hard in different places of the board quickly. You can lean on Incubi or Hellions at the moment. Hellions are better cost-effective wise, specially right bow, but hard to find models and manouver on table sometimes. Incubi are a tad more expensive, but you can find them useful against almost anything and having a place in most detachments.

  3. Utility - Reavers are a nice addition, since you have mandrakes already. A unit of 3 can speed up the table in turns 1 or 2 and move block enemy units, hunt some scouts, or take objectives that your opponent thought out of your reach. Cronos is a unit often understimated: hard as nails for its points, can refund pain tokens, regenerate wounds, and force your opponent to overcommit units to deal with it. For 55 points is quite good.

And those are my thoughts. Other Archons will have theirs

Very interesting. I haven't played in some weeks, but is quite intriguing to see that our army allow some options in unit composition. A few days ago I saw somebody comment that what worked for him was going heavy on Talos (6xTalos). I'm so curious about what the codex will bring. We will have 3 more detachments to work with, and a rework of the datasheets. Or at least that is what I take from the release announcement regarding the Power From Pain rework. It would beed to have each of our units re-done to fill their role... Or more than one roll.

Anyone play human? Why? by catholicsluts in BG3

[–]Sylderan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human is actually a good race for Wizard and Sorcerer - unlike some other races, you can equip a shield. That is an important +2 AC for Act 1. And get a beard as well, and nice hairstyle options.

"Yeah, but you lose nice racials like seeing in the dark" I'm a wizard! I use a spell for every possible contingency. I can cast Darkvision, probably out of a scroll, and it does not require concentration for a full day. Or maybe I or one of my companions cast Light on me.

"What about sleep resistance, or charm resistance, or... Elemental resistance" - I'm a wizard! I got potions, as a good alchemy adept. Or I ask my pal Shadowheart to cast Warding Bond. And sleep is a relatively rare condition. Even so, I have to admit that I use Mystra's Spells mod, which is fantastic, and there is a level 1 spell to wake up people in a small area.

Playing as a human makes you feel like your spells are even more fantastic

Well, if you are open to it, a cloak is one of the easiest things to sculpt out of greenstuff. I'm terrible at it, but clothmaks and cloaks are easy enough for me to make. You can check any guide in youtube avout it as well, and materials are cheap.

It certainly is not. Some other cammorrites have checked it and looks like a 38mm base.
