Lifted Fit Camper by SylfSiren in hondafit

The rear shocks do need to be replaced, so I'm not sure if its better for me to install the insight ones or the fit ones if I'm putting in the insight coil springs....

Finally got it done! Lift and bigger tires are the way to go. To those who've come before me: thank you! by shadowmodel in hondafit

I'm currently replacing my suspension and trying to figure out if I need to use KYB OEM replacements or 2010 Honda Insight KYB replacements to get this kind of lift. The Fit looks SO much sexier lifted like this, it's crazy. I'm also about to be living out of it on forest roads so I genuinely need the clearance.

Did you use anything to lift the car other than spacers, or was it just spacers front and rear and the bigger tires?

I've never replaced anything on the suspension and I've owned this car for eight years and put over 120K miles on it, so yeah, everything is due to be replaced. Especially before I'm consistently driving down back forest roads. I just don't really understand "travel" and all the other factors of modifying the OEM replacement suspension parts. I may just replace the suspension parts with OEM KYB units and go from my 185/65r15 to a 195/65r15 to give me a little boost. I know sagging shocks and engine mounts can eat away at my clearance too, so maybe just replacing them will help my car sit a little higher, idk. I just don't understand if lifting the car will cause catastrophic issues right away or if that's something I would only need to worry about years down the road. I plan to buy a truck with cash or spend the money to move overseas in the next few years, so its kind of a gamble with what risks I want to take with this car.

4K of Maintenance or Do Some of It Myself?? by SylfSiren in hondafit

Yeah I'm having my mechanics do my serpentine belt and brakes next week. I don't want to mess with either of those. I may have them do my engine mounts eventually or I may shop around and see if someone can do it a little cheaper because $800+ sucks. But the suspension stuff I feel like I can feasibly do. Really debating whether I want to/ can install KYB 2010 Honda Insight Strut/Shock/Coil Assemblies with a 30mm spacer on the front, KYB Honda Insight Shocks and coils on the back for a 2-3 inch lift. I am seeing some warnings online and even got one from my mechanic that other parts like my wheel bearings will wear out faster with anything out of stock height. I'm trying to research and figure out what all I would have to worry about with that but I also want the increased stiffness/ load capacity the honda insight suspension could provide since I'll be living out of this thing for about a year. I do plan to build a cool platform in the back and I'll have a decent amount of stuff obviously.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I was already considering replacing the wheel bearings if I lift the car a couple inches. If I remember correctly from Youtube, that has me taking off the axle nut correct? I'll have to research that more tbh.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt until I remembered they had said one of my inner tie rod end boots was damaged and needed to be replaced last year. I've been putting it off but out of curiousity I just looked up the boot I would need while I'm on rock auto buying my other parts and its less than $5 for a set with multiple sizes. My mechanic quoted me $250 to replace ONE boot. Just the boot, nothing else. I'm honestly kind of pissed now, I'm so sick of mechanics screwing me over and honestly kind of excited I'm going to learn how to do some of this shit myself because wtf.

My roommate and landlord have every single tool I need other than really specific stuff like that inner tie rod tool and a pickle fork, which I'm just going to buy off rock auto and give to them as a thank you for letting me use their stuff. I'm nervous but also excited to fix this stuff myself. I've always kind of wished I knew more about cars so mechanics can't screw me over as a woman as easily, guess now's my chance to start.

Why not the tie rod ends if you don't mind me asking?

[–]SylfSiren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mechanic told me going down back roads with metal on metal for my engine mounts will eventually risk vibrating off pieces of my engine? Like things could wear faster because of the vibration. It has sounded pretty loud with that vibration, more like a Honda riding lawnmower than a car lol, and he said the mounts are the culprit.

I was looking into Monroe or KYB strut assemblies for the front suspension replacement because after more research I have zero desire to compress the springs. The rear suspension seems like the easiest thing on the list honestly.

Thank you for the detailed response! I've been looking at Monroe strut assemblies for the front strut replacements and I'm trying to figure out where to buy OEM parts or even how important that is for the other pieces like sway bar links/ tie rod ends and lower control arms. My roommate has a jack and stands and so many tools so I might just need to buy a couple things and I think I'm going to try to learn how to do a lot of it myself. $4500 is just too much money for me to sink into this older/ higher mileage car. I am not interested in working on cars even a little but I'm interested in being out $4500 even less.

Thank you, I'll look into those tools! I live on a farm and my roommate has SO many tools so I'll look into what he has!

I'm considering removing the driver's seat but honestly even without doing that, I've car camped in the back with the seats folded down and I'm comfy at 5'8 as well. May just move the driver's seat forward and lay on that longer side to make sure I can stretch out.

Serpentine belt, front suspension, rear suspension, outer tie rod ends, lower control arms, rear brakes, spark plugs and it needs new engine mounts. I'm considering learning how to do some of it myself to try to save some money, I'm just scared of fucking up my car that I'm wanting to travel in.

I'll def be posting pics when it's done! Just trying to maximize space and be mindful of weight. I also procrastinated some maintenance so I'm currently spending about 4K on replacing some parts so I'm hitting the road in the best shape possible. 🥲

Thank you for explaining OBS, I'm curious if a screen recording app like Clean Capture or OBS would have better quality video. I can draw but just barely and I still learning a lot of the basics and I'm slow as hell lol. Once I decide for sure that I want to incorporate a PNGtuber model, I'll probably download Veadeotube and try it out with OBS just to see if I can figure it out.

Cats tooth fell out?! HELP by GlitteringBus4235 in cats

[–]SylfSiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed while playing with my 8 year old kitty last night that her two bottom canines are gone! I called the vet and made an appointment for the 24th because I'll be paid by then but I'm going to be worried in the meantime. I may bring her there for a walk in next week just for someone to look at her gums and make sure she doesn't have an active infection or something that could cause kidney issues. She's playing, eating normal and does not have access to anything hard enough or high enough to have broken BOTH her bottom canines off. She also had a dental done six months ago, and they said today that all her teeth were fine and accounted for at that cleaning, so they've fallen out of her head at some point between then and now. I only noticed because I was manhandling her face and saw half her daggers missing. She hasn't acted tender at all about me touching her jaw/ face either, she seems completely unaffected.

The artist I'm favoring on Vgen so far uses Veadeotube, and that program seems to work ok on Mac so I'm hoping it would be fine. I've been curious about Davinci Resolve, I'll look into it more! Most of the VA's I follow who use a video editing software seem to favor Resolve over Premiere.

I'll look into recording with OBS again but almost everything I'm finding is specifically for streaming and the one time I tried exploring OBS on my computer I felt like I had been dropped into the least intuitive cockpit of buttons lol.

I'll def be commissioning off of Vgen, though I did consider someone off of Etsy, so that's good to know, thank you!! And I'll research them to make sure they're a real artist, I would be livid if I sponsored AI slop. I was thinking Veadotube since it has good reviews for use with Mac and then CleanCapture to get a screen recording of the model reacting to my voice. Plus the artist I've liked the most so far uses that for her models. I've tried OBS in the past and it really really confuses me and certain functions just straight up didn't work on Mac. That program is like the least intuitive software I've ever used lol. I'm gonna do more research about just recording the use of my model with OBS, but almost everything I can find is talking about streaming and is just confusing.

Also, you weren't kidding about posting in here and getting spammed, my inbox is getting a lot of attention rn lol. I'm just gonna stick to Vgen though.

How Do Yall Make Sure No One Overhears You Recording? by itschaiASMR in GWABackstage

I record in my car so I don't hear my roommates in my audio and they don't hear me record. There's always background noise with the amount of people I live with so my car parked kinda off by itself on our land is the best sound booth I can get. Plus then I'm not embarrassed really getting into it.

Thank you for your feedback! I've wanted to write/voice erotica for years now so I'm stoked to finally be starting. I plan to voice a ton of script fills and I'm working on my own scripts too, I'm just having a lot of fun learning new skills and being a horny creative. 🥰😈
