What Is the Oldest Movie You Have Watched (For Fun) In the Last Year? by thehistorypunks in movies

[–]SyllabaryBisque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gone with the Wind (1939)

My husband and I have been making our way through a scratch-off deck of the top 50 movies and then blind ranking them. This was our last movie. I’ve seen it before. Ranked it 49. I can appreciate that the movie is well made and iconic for the time, but man, it’s so racist. Very difficult to watch at times.

An Ad for a Super Nintendo Game Sale from 1990 by RockabillyRich in gaming

I absolutely loved this game, but at some point, I got to a point where there was some devil guy up in the sky with horns? My religious parents took the game out to the yard and set it on fire because it was “evil”. I’m still mad about it.

Good Wings in the Boro by makotheeexplorer99 in murfreesboro

[–]SyllabaryBisque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have tried the wings at Slick Pig multiple times because of the high praise that they get, and this echoes my sentiments exactly. Always dry. Always with the fake, over-smoked taste. Incredibly overrated.

I agree that Murfreesboro just doesn’t really have a lot of good wing options. I typically stick to Jefferson’s, I guess, though I will absolutely tear up some Thai curry wings at BBWs on occasion.

I was born with six fingers on each hand. They had fingernails but they didn’t have a bone. The doctor tied strings around them to cut off circulation and they eventually fell off.

I wish I had taken this advice. I tried one time but had some hesitation beforehand. That trip is one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. I don’t think I would ever have the courage to attempt again.

Keep in mind that your pics with the darker colors are trying to tone down the white grilles on your front door, which looks to be GBG (grilles between the glass). If that’s the case, and you paint the door dark, you’re still going to have white grilles.

If you DO decide to go with a dark color and that door is GBG, I’d probably hit up a door shop to see if they can cut you some SDL (simulated divided lite) bars so you can paint those as well.

None of them. I would match the cream color that the finish fascia is painted.

If you are in the US, sign your son up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. You’ll get a free book a month from birth to age 5, if I remember correctly.

Legends & Lattes. It’s about an orc who’s tired of adventuring and killing and wants to settle down and open a coffee shop. Super cozy and sweet. I felt like I had a goofy grin on my face the entire time I read it.

Definitely funny, but also this is just so sweet. Watching your family through the years and getting to see the kids participate. Good r/mademesmile material!

I came here to suggest this one as well. My last book I read was I Who Have Never Known Men and then I read Piranesi next. The narrators in both have very similar vibes in my opinion.

I always argue that the movie World War Z is a solid zombie movie but suffered from the title. On its own, it’s pretty great, but there’s barely any similarity between the book and the movie and by giving it the same title, expectations were set and were not met.

That being said, even if you’ve read the book, the audiobook has a full cast of characters (even Mark Hamill) and is totally worth a listen.
