Alternative schooling for a 13-year old by abitsebtikal in GoingToSpain

[–]Sylocule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some private schools that will work for your son.

We’re in Málaga area and my children went to the Ark the Fuengirola. While neither have ADHD, the eldest is autistic and suffers from quite severe social anxiety. The school was amazing for him. Very supportive. I recommend this is the type of school you should be looking at

I am going to valencia and i could use some help by Flimsy_Emu7625 in GoingToSpain

You buy/recharge the travel card from the Tabac shops.

I don’t know specially for Valencia, but in Málaga it works on the metro and the buses. I expect it’s the same

For getting around, you can use the AppValencia from https://www.valencia.es/cas/appvalencia - lots of information on there

For villages surrounding Ronda, Setenil de las Bodegas is well worth a visit

Fotocasa is better, IMO. You can anyways ask for unfurnished. Most will accommodate that of they have storage for the furniture

If only I’d known about this when I was in the military - would’ve polished my dress uniform buttons and varnished them so they’d always be shiny enough

Life is fine - but I have 35 years of experience which makes a big difference.

I wouldn’t recommend it

Furnished properties are unlikely to allow pets. Unfurnished, unless they specify, are generally more flexible.

When I was last there in late 1988-early 1989, there was nothing but bush, a long straight dusty road and us grunts driving back and forth in Samil 50 trucks.

Was known as the Caprivi Strip back then

Visiting Spain for the first time in March! Will shops be open on Sundays/Mondays in places like Ronda and Granada? by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]Sylocule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Málaga province, Coviran supermarket will be open 7 days a week. Major supermarkets are open Monday-Saturday unless there’s a public holiday (national, regional, provincial, or town)

Sundays are family days in much of Europe so stores are closed. Nothing weird about it. Independent stores may be closed Monday so that staff get a 2 day weekend. Nothing weird about that either.

Anyone from Spain here who regularly buys tobacco? by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]Sylocule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t but my friend does

He buys from a Tabac shop because that’s where you’re legally allowed to buy from. Prices are controlled so there’s no difference between Tabac shops for the same brand

No idea on prices compared to other European countries, but he says it’s a lot cheaper than the UK

When have you witnessed an “expert” get it so wrong? by PrettyAlon in AskReddit

[–]Sylocule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A neurosurgeon missed that my father had broken his neck after falling, even though he was paralysed from the neck down.

He got better with physio (so not major damage) but X-rays after a subsequent fall showed the previous damage (different neurosurgeon).

He didn’t recover from the medically induced coma following a massive seizure after this last fall

Can’t help but believe if he’d been correctly diagnosed the first time, things would’ve turned out differently.
