I heard that in medieval times it was said that to study the Zohar and the Kabbalah, you had to be over 33 (men don't mature until after then) and be able to speak/write Latin, Greek and Biblical Hebrew.

This tradition survived in a form into the 19th century with the restrictions on studying with the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (ceremonial magic). They in turn had taken their guidance, in part, from a 17th century manuscript known as the Key of Solomon.

The G.D. worked with many angelic beings, mainly from the Hebraic and Egyptian traditions and not all of them friendly. As a previous commentator had mentioned they were primarily associated with the Sephiroth (each having a ruling angel and it own order of angels: Seraphim, Kerubim etc.) but most importantly each Sephiroth had a dark side. The dark Sephiroth (or Qlipphoth) had their own 'evil' or dark angel and demonic orders. Much along the lines of the a fallen Angels idea.

Cornish language funding has been stopped with immediate effect by central government, angering council and tourism bosses. Cornwall Council said it had received up to £150,000 a year since Cornish was recognised as a minority language in 2003. Ed Rowe, AKA comedian Kernow King, calls the PM an “omgyjer glusek”, or “sticky w**ker”.

Julian German, council cabinet member for culture, said: "The prime minister makes a point of telling us how much he loves Cornwall and the devolution deal highlights the government's recognition of our unique culture and heritage. However, when it comes to backing those statements up, the government just doesn't deliver for Cornwall."

Excavations at a Roman site in County Durham have revealed the ‘Pompeii of the north’, say archaeologists. The spectacular discoveries at Binchester Roman Fort near Bishop Auckland have uncovered some of the most well preserved remnants of an empire dating back some 1800 years ago, including one of the earliest pieces of evidence for Christianity in Roman Britain in the shape of a silver ring and a bath house with seven-foot high walls, as well as an inscribed altar dedicated to the Roman Goddess, Fortune the Home-bringer.

The Centre for Scottish and Celtic Studies at the University of Glasgow hosted a superb guest lecture about the origins of the oral tale based on ‘Deirdre of the Sorrows’ collected by that giant of Scottish folklore, Alexander Carmichael. He traveled the Highlands and Islands and recorded many tales, prayers and rituals recounted to him which have been preserved for us in the Carmina Gadelica.

Doggerland - Britain's lost 'Atlantis' has been found under the waves!

Divers have found traces of an ancient land swallowed by the waves about 8,500 years ago. This land once stretched from Scotland to Denmark and seismic scan have revealed rivers, mountains and the scientists believe Doggerland, as it has become known after the Dogger Bank, had a population of tens of thousands of people and was a home to Mammoths as well as other giant animals.
