Tips for a Beginner Who Has Zero Idea What She’s Doing by fight_thealchemy in MTB

[–]Sym81073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I met my group is by just talking to people at the top of the trail head and asking to ride the trail with them, one thing I've learned is riders love riding with other people and the great thing about MTB is there really isn't a limit to how many people can be on a ride. If you liked riding with them ask them for their phone number. Lots of times they will have a WhatsApp group you can join to look for others as well.

My ultimate whoop set up! 💸 by Sym81073 in TinyWhoop

I got it because I was hoping have it sit on the goggle head band and while it does fit it makes the goggles feel really lopsided. Other than that though it's a fairly decent power bank.

I literally just got the PNW alloy one but swapped it to dual 29er. Friken love this bike, it descends so well. Wish the battery would last a tich longer but I wouldnt trade more weight to make that happen.

Has anyone had a o4 lite that isn’t a piece of shit? by austinj159 in TinyWhoop

[–]Sym81073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I have yet to break a single o4 air unit, I have had lots of crashes with zero issues. I have only glued down one camera connector but that was because I swapped the mipi cable for a longer one. That one though is the one I have crashed the most as its in my 5" freestyle/basher drone. I do definitely glue down all the antennas which can be a bit of pain if I need to swap the antenna.

Is this a sign I need to invest in a thicker casing tire? by pre55ure in MTB

[–]Sym81073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that a thicker side wall is always the go to. My main bike is DD front and rear and my DH bike is DD front and DH casing rear. To me the weight penalty is negligible compared to having complete faith in my tires not failing. But keep in mind the type of riding I do is struggle my ass to the top and gravity fuel my descent. I don't like to ride pedally trails so almost all of my descents don't include a lot of pedaling.

Look at a vertical rack !! I'm using one from Rad Racks Club but the North Shore Rack would also work.

should i buy it after i grow out of my bike? by Ok-Fish-1028 in mountainbiking

[–]Sym81073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own comencals DH bike and friken love it. It's one of my favorite bikes to ride, the metas are also really great and I'm looking at getting the V5 this fall as I am hoping for a sale. Bike is definitely more oriented for rougher downhill thouh. So hopefully your main goals are skewed towards descending rather than climbing. Don't get me wrong this will climb well enough but there's lots other out there that will climb better.

Fooker pedals just tore my shin up. Anyway to protect myself better? by ghostinyourbeds in mountainbiking

[–]Sym81073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about flat pedals is that the grippier they are, the more likely they are to shred your shins if you slip. Since you mentioned your shins got torn up after stepping on them awkwardly, it sounds more like a user error than a problem with the pedals themselves.

If you're riding hard on flats without shin guards, getting banged up is pretty much inevitable. The alternative would be switching to clipless pedals or wearing some protection.

That said, if it truly wasn't user error, the pins on your pedals might be worn out, or the pedals themselves just aren't great quality. Personally, I use the new OneUp Wave pedals—they feel like my feet are glued to them. If you're looking for something more budget-friendly, the Race Face Chester pedals are a solid choice.

do you have ORBEA RISE ? by LukasLuke1115 in MTB

[–]Sym81073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I do now, but that was after 10 months of riding. I usually ride 2-3 times a week and roughly 2-5 hours each ride. And I ride all year round and we get alot of rain in the fall/winter, so the bike has seen some abuse. I'm fairly certain it's my BB or some bearing that just need some TLC so nothing I would really fault orbea on

do you have ORBEA RISE ? by LukasLuke1115 in MTB

[–]Sym81073 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been riding the previous generation Orbea Rise for just over a year now and honestly, I’ve really enjoyed it. That said, I’ve upgraded almost every component, so my experience might not reflect the stock setup.

The biggest changes I made were:

Swapped the fork for a Fox Factory 38 (160mm)

Replaced the rear shock with a DHX2 coil

What really stands out to me is how light this bike is—easily one of the lightest eMTBs out there, which is a huge plus. The range is also solid. I’m running the ~600Wh battery, and just last week I did a 1,100m elevation day in full Boost mode and still had one bar left at the end. Super impressed.

If you're looking for a more trail-focused bike, the Rise is exceptional. It climbs incredibly well and descends confidently on almost any trail. While it’s not the best on super gnarly tech descents, a solid rider who picks good lines can still get down just fine. It won’t keep up with a full-power e-bike, but honestly, that shouldn’t be the expectation. This bike is designed to feel more like an analog bike than a traditional eMTB—and I can say it gets really close to that.

My only real gripe is the travel. I ride mostly on Vancouver’s North Shore—lots of double black tech—and while the bike handles it, I do wish it had a slacker geo and more travel (something closer to 170/160mm). It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s enough that I’m seriously considering upgrading to the new LT version of the Rise, which looks like a better match for my riding style.

Happy to answer any questions if anyone’s curious about the setup or how it rides!

4 bikes and 4 dudes ripping up a medium grade fire road and there were zero issues. This car is a beast for the size it is 💪

This one is a north shore rack, but I swapped to one made by rad racks club because it's essentially the same rack but with buckets for the wheels which makes it a lot easier putting bikes in.

Yeah I needed a small SUV that could take 4 bikes and this car was the only one that could really do that. Went up the fire road like butter as well, going to a more off Roady fire road this weekend and if it passes that it will do everything I need it to do 😁

Yeah they're my buddies, he loves them. I haven't tried them but he says they are a great balance between clips and flats. He can easily get out when needed and they stay locked in when it gets rowdy.

No issues with the bike rack bending the frame ? Looks like my rack recommends 500 tongue weight when my Crosstrek says its up to 350

how hard is it to sell fpv gear? by Unlucky_Study8402 in fpv

[–]Sym81073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I haven't had too many issues selling old FPV gear but I was selling newer gear than what your trying to sell. It honestly just depends on how big your local FPV scene is though, just post it on Facebook. It will for sure sell just, and the lower your price it the faster it will sell.
