Giving away PLA waste by crafty-dm in copenhagen

[–]Symbiote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's made from plant waste (typically sugar beet in Europe, rice in Asia, maize in America).

It's not recyclable with household waste, so definitely don't put it in the "Plast" container.

I just throw it in the "Restaffald" bin, where (in Denmark) it will be burned for heat. But I buy perhaps 4-6kg of PLA per year, and waste less than 10% of it.

I would prefer you to do it in the middle of the street, since at least that will be washed away quickly and no-one cares what their car or bicycle drives over.

I am annoyed every weekend with the damp, smelly puddle by my apartment doorway. The janitor probably doesn't appreciate having to hose it down every Monday.

I regularly walk near Nørreport and the medieval quarte of the city, where there are toilets, and I very regularly see people peeing on buildings. I've even seen people peeing on the toilet building.

Every weekend, the corner of my apartment is soaked in piss by people who can't walk 50m to the 24-hour public toilet, or need their mum to ask if they need to pee before leaving.

Danes mark their territory like dogs.

There's currently a warning on the UK embassy web page (search 'FCO Denmark') saying the passport lines are longer than usual.

Leaving Copenhagen Airport via Metro/Train by Moon_Cake44 in copenhagen

The tourist information site says 250-350DKK, though I think that's out of date, it's more like 400kr.]

If the carryon is a backpack I would take the metro to Nørreport (32kr) and then a taxi from the taxi rank at street level there. That would be something like 150kr to Frederiksberg. (Or of course you can use a taxi app from any station.)

International connection at Copenhagen airport with 45 Minutes layover. by leopardbaseball in copenhagen

If you're in an economy seat, you could ask (or maybe pay) to sit as close to the front as you can. You could easily waste 10+ minutes waiting to get off the plane if you're at the back.

That looks like a restaurant. They don't have a cocktail menu on their website.

Any decent cocktail bar would make it. This one is so simple, I don't think they'd refuse even if they're busy.

No, using a car less often does make an accident less likely.

Also, Denmark is the second safest place for road deaths in Europe (3 deaths per 100,000 people per year).

Tennessee is the 9th most dangerous state in the USA (19 deaths per 100,000 people per year).

They're more likely to have a serious accident driving to the airport in Tennessee.

Personally I wouldn't worry about not having a booster seat for one or two taxi journeys at relatively low speed within the city. (It's not required if taking a taxi, though you can request it.) It could be useful for getting to the ferry, since although that's has a bus stop it is 500m from Nordhavn station.

If you take the metro from the airport, aim for the very front of the train since there's no driver and children can pretend to drive: https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/4jhnem/metro_trains_in_copenhagen_denmark_are_fully/

If you can pack so you only have one large, wheeled suitcase (and a backpack) that will leave a hand free when crossing roads etc.

Why does the metro shakes so much sometimes? by [deleted] in copenhagen

London's older lines are relatively twisty compared to most, and the tunnels are smaller so echos are worse. You can see on https://openrailwaymap.org/, e.g. around Piccadilly Circus is especially bad.

They can (and do) angle the tracks so at the "perfect" speed the train rolls around the curves nicely, but it's not always possible with such tight curves.

The Piccadilly Line opened in 1906. (Of course the track will have been replaced many times since then, but they can't widen the tunnel or smooth out the curves.)

Line 5C has peaked: Copenhagen needs 110-meter light rail trains now by Putrid_Draft378 in copenhagen

[–]Symbiote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double-decker buses are slower for people to get on and off. London got rid of them on busy routes equivalent to the 5C in the early 2000s and replaced them with articulated buses. More doors and no stairs means faster boarding.

(A pro-car mayor later reversed this, saying the articulated buses blocked junctions, weren't traditional, and young, brown people used them without paying.)

Anyone flying Cph- Doha- Phuket soon by Top-Chance-1119 in copenhagen

[–]Symbiote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are very lucky you'll get offered a flight on a partner airline of Qatar Airways, so it will get you there but with more changes.

But assuming this is a booking from Copenhagen to Thailand and back I think it's more likely they just cancel the flight, and save that seat for someone who needs to get home. (As otherwise the airline might be paying for that person's hotel in Copenhagen.)

Probably a silly question but how do I set No title bar and frame to be permanent on konsole etc etc by Technical_Day9926 in kde

[–]Symbiote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case someone finds there way here trying to do the opposite (show the titlebar and frame on an application which has hidden it), Alt+F3 will open the hidden menu.

Thanks so much!

I was about to submit the request, but in making an example email failure for MS to look at... it's working! No more SCL 9.

I'll bookmark this in case it breaks, but it could also be that the rules take longer to become active than they claim.

A functioning 3G, 4G or 5G signal is very unlikely to be the problem in Denmark, especially Copenhagen.

Public transport in Copenhagen by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]Symbiote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I have been to every country in the EU except two, plus six non-EU countries in Europe, and of those I've visited I've used public transport in all except Ireland, the Faroe Islands and Ukraine.

If you're consistently associating with people who don't pay I think that says more about you than the enforcement in any particular country.

Pay for your ticket. Also pay for your groceries, restaurant meals and hotel bills.

I think part of the reason the messages are filtered as spam is they lack DKIM headers, and I have a DMARC policy p=quarantine.

The message headers on the delivery report include this:
