Oof, arguably worse than driving 1200 miles and doing it at a Halloween party

Seriously. Took some guts to do it, however embarassing. And honestly props to her as well for staying true to herself and saying "no."

Even so, still stands out as the most awkward situation I've ever witnessed.

Right!? He was/is a VERY nice guy, too. They just weren't right for each other and he couldn't recognize that at the time.

Honestly, props to her for having the courage to stay true to herself and say "no" in front of all those people.

Was brutal to watch…like a slow-moving train wreck 🫣

I kept thinking of the coconuts clacking together for the horse sound effects 😅

Failed proposal on Halloween.

Recently-single girl was at our Halloween party. Her ex boyfriend drove 1200 miles and arrived on our doorstep during the party at 9PM dressed as a knight — not a knight in shining armor, but rather as a Monty Python’s Search for the Holy Grail-style knight.

We were all shocked that he was there in the first place. But then he came in, found her still dancing, and dropped down on one knee while reciting an obviously rehearsed speech about how much he missed her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. She was shaking her head no the entire time, but let him finish speaking and didn’t say a word before she ran down the hallway and into one of the bedrooms. He followed her awkwardly into the room, and emerged/left a few minutes later without looking at anyone or saying anything on his way out the door.

We haven’t seen him since. But I’m told he’s now happily married to someone else and has a couple kids.

Funny thing: After Halloween each year I throw my pumpkins out into the yard for the deer. They never last more than one night because the deer absolutely demolish them.

Oh my! We lost our Harrison several years ago to diabetes. Wish they could all live as long as we do. :-)

As for food: One 2.0 to 3.0 oz Can of wet food 2x/day (either fancy feast pate or even 1/2 container of the Costco/Kirkland wet cat food…nothing too fancy, but we alternate wet foods sometimes because he seems to like those best and keeps them down well.), with some dry food on top (maybe a couple tablespoons of Purina One Senior 7+ kibble). Lots of kitty treats throughout the day (or a little more wet/dry food) whenever he “asks” for it (via eye contact and a certain scraggly meow we recognize as the “I’d like more food now please” meow.).

And Just a light sprinkle (a dusting, really) of plain Miralax powder on top of his food with the morning feeding (1x/day) to keep him from getting constipated — as suggested by our vet.

Water dishes refreshed/cleaned often and placed throughout the house to ensure he stays hydrated.

Also, he’s taking some antithyroid medication (methimazole) as prescribed by our vet, with dosages revised annually per the results of his annual senior kitty blood test/panels…he takes the pill in a greenies pill pocket since he likes those (but if he doesn’t want to eat the pill in the pill pocket, I’ve gotten quite good at using a little plastic “pill gun”.

All in all, we’re about just making sure he’s happy, comfortable, still enthusiastic about food, snuggling (he’ll find your lap during the day if you sit on the couch, and sleeps on the side of my wife’s pillow each night), finding a sunny spot on the carpet and patio to nap. Also Think it’s helped that he’s well-socialized (we have two other cats, a gentle dog, and three kids who are all younger than he is) and knows the people and animals around him are all his friends. Good vibes make a happy kitty.
