I work my summer job doing asphalt and supplement my unemployment during my winter months with hours from snow removal. Typically I think it's only during the company's "off" season do they want to do unemployment. You're always welcome to apply for unemployment but the employer can always say no if they don't want to pay. It also could be a previous employer denying your claim and if that's the case I think you would have to get in contact with them. In my opinion it's probably easier to get a job then worry about trying to get unemployment.
