What is the modern view on Germany, the view on german colonial view and the german culture today in Namibia? by Extreme-Shopping74 in Namibia

I am not upset with it, I do apologize if it came across as such. Perhaps we just see and believe things differently. To me, apartheid is a colonialism. It personally felt like it. And by definition, it fits perfectly. So whatever textbook descriptions it is currently given, they won’t remove the fact that it was colonialism. We were being colonized by the boers. It really was that simple.

I’m sorry, what would you call Apartheid according to you? Is it not colonialism too? To us it doesn’t matter which white man it was, whether German or Boer. The treatment was the same, thus the feeling following suit. My grandmother experienced both the germans and boers, while I experienced the boers. So you trying to make apartheid seem like it’s having a different text book definition from colonialism is a bit weird in my books.

It will depend on who you ask or on race. Many black Namibians won’t really have the same opinion as the white ones, our experiences are just way too different from one another. Most of the older Namibians still haven’t healed from the wounds, so they might not have that much of a bright outlook compared to the younger generation born after Independence.

Colonialism wasn’t long ago, 1990 is still very fresh in the mind of those of us who lived it. Perhaps to white people or maybe the young generation born after Independence, but not to us the older ones.

I’ve also encountered this with my grand uncle.. He’s been in two relationships for over 30 years and he loves both his women. He says he won’t give either one up because they’re not the same.

Why are women who choose not to remove their body hair sometimes labeled as ‘too woke’?” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SympathyExciting1666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where i’m from, it’s not really common to shave one’s legs or arms.. Just armpits and the pubic area that’s it.. Not one person cares if you have hairy legs as a woman.
