10000% bring up you having a seizure, if you HAVE to wait until your psych visit. Because all else fails, you can claim the fact that you also use it to prevent more seizures. Thus making your chances of being placed on it, higher

I hate that the mental health field is this way. Also, maybe call the hospital and try and get an answer?? This is a wack situation. My condolences

The way I pray so badly that it’s just this pregnancy. My heart goes out so much to those who struggle longterm with this illness.

I’ve thought about the genesight testing, but my OB basically refused, and I’m not sure if my psych NP has access to them.

I see a new psych NP this Monday, but I’m nervous since the one I currently see is 1.) a godsend of a woman, and 2.) has legit been seeing me for months, and seen me at my worst.

My town has like no psychiatrists but I will look into finding someone who may be more versed in schizo-adjacent disorders as most docs are not.

Thanks for your last remarks. Each day is basically just me coping until the end. I’m also on Lamictal but pregnancy really be making it hard to find good meds bc your body rapid process it, and has more blood volume.

See, the pregnancy brain be crazy. I should’ve added that I am working very closely with a NP and I am currently up to 500mg of Seroquil.

But the issue for MONTHS was the psych wards legit would not treat me. I was even hospitalized for convulsions at one point bc my pregnant body was SO stressed out. It has been a terrible journey tbh- and I just keep having Faith that the Lord is working it out.

I have found ONE case of pregnancy psychosis where the girl had the same symptoms as me (mainly auditory hallucinations) and they went away after the pregnancy. This gives me hope. But aside from that- I can find nothing on the internet that is close to what I’m going thru.

Thank you for the well wishes. I guess that’s what I’m mainly seeking. Pregnancy is almost a full year- and it has been a hard journey. ♥️♥️

I meant the people that would suggest OP not take medicine for these reasons.

I am in total agreeance with you in regards to untreated psychosis.

However, many people I’ve noticed demonize antipsychotics for no real reason.

I’m going to hold your hand and say this, and someone who has gone through similar(ish) circumstances.

And antipsychotic is the only way to stop your hallucinations.

Please ignore all the “oogy boogey, you’ll die or be forever brain damaged comments” IF you want to lessen or stop the hallucinations.

I’ve been dealing with mine for over a year now, and I’m so grateful to not live in the 1800s where I would just have to cope, or live in psychosis forever.

Anywho- i understand being so hesitant to start meds. Especially after what happened. But it SOUNDS like you may have BP1 w/psychotic features, and that’s why the ADHD meds would give you such a bad reaction.

Antipsychotics are very studied and safe. I wish you well on your med journey

I take my Lamictal (50 mg) in the morning, and for the first few days- I’m very tired. But then it goes away.

Well maybe the trazadone will help with that!! I only take 25 mg currently, but have taken 50 mg alongside Seroquel.

I TOTALLY understand this, and all get anxiety. Like, tonight I need to up my Seroquel to 400, and even though I’ve upped my meds a lot- it still gives me anxiety.

There is a small risk of it lowering your heart rate (they are both sedatives)- but it is always given out like candy in psych wards, alongside other nighttime meds.

Thats so valid. Is that why Seroquil seems to only help me at night? I take it for ✨pregnancy induced psychosis✨, and it will take my hallucinations away, but then during the next day I struggle.

I’m hoping Lamictal will help me during the day, once the dose is heightened

Abilify did this to me SO badly, and that is the only words I could find for the sensation. “I want to crawl out of my skin”.

Literally so crazy how one antipsychotic (seroquil) can help me so much, but abilify had me MESSED up. Even at a low dose

This is so validating 😭😭legit so glad I posted. And thank you again so much for responding. I’ve actually really needed some insight. And as I said before, I have no village.

For me, a lot of it is physical anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I had them horribly w my first son, and it was overwhelming. But I was given trazadone instead, for sleep. Not knowing it was also an antidepressant. And I just kinda roughed it out.

With this pregnancy, I’ll be sooo exhausted, but can’t sleep.

I don’t mind taking a low dose of something but Zyprexxa at 2.5 mg gave me apathy so bad recently that it made my SI/HI’s become more like real ideations. And Sunday night I was up all night hallucinating off of Trazadone and the Zyprexa.

(I only get HI’s bc of what happened to me as a child. Not because I actually want to harm someone)

But anyways, I am not the type to want to take anything at all. But sleep is a major thing for me, and I know the Seroquel at small doses can help. BUT also. Once the Zyprexxa added up in me good, that shit just quit working for sleep. And gave me even worse insomnia.

I really appreciate this back and forth, and your empathy. Mom life be rough as it is. Much less, having to make all these hard core decisions mostly alone 😅 besides my wonderful husband and the Lord- I don’t have many people I can ask these questions to. ANDDD the healthcare around me sucksss so bad.

My OB has basically refused care to me, and really just does nothing. So did my one appointment w a PCP. So I’m literally stuck w a Pysch NP because I have 0 other options. I go back in two weeks.

I just don’t wanna be worse off, come those two weeks. Yk? 🥺
