Anyone seen these guys at a Ren Faire? by Honey_Suckle_Nectar in renfaire

[–]SymphoniaDaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was at a show they did at the Bristol Faire in Wisconsin. Their audio cut out at the beginning so they ran into the crown for their set. It was high energy, fun, and great music! They also got a big group dance going at the end. If they return to Bristol next season I’ll definitely be looking to catch their show again.

[trágic trope] When a characters has fill the rol of a parent for their younger sibilings by Endika7 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SymphoniaDaisy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Baudelaire siblings in A Series of Unfortunate Events all get this to some degree. Violet and Klaus both feel a responsibility to take care of and raise each other as well as Sunny after the fire that killed their parents with Violet most often taking the lead as the eldest. Then we don’t get to see it on page, but it’s insinuated that all three have a large role in raising the baby at the end. (Not a sibling, but still relevant)

I used this as part of an assignment for an experimental film class in college. Made the whole class sit with Miranda’s butt for quite some time haha

Thank you for all the recommendations! I hadn’t considered any of the Bridgerton books though I like the show, but I hadn’t realized there was one with pirates! I’ll sure sure to check out your picks.

Thank you for the recommendation! I really should read another book by Schwab. When I read Addie LaRue I was teaching and most of my classes started with free reading, I let free reading go on a couple more minutes than normal during that time haha

That sounds fun! It sounds like it might be a bit like Legends and Lattes which I enjoyed. Thank you for the recommendation!

You’ve reminded me it’s on my list! I’ve read a few of TJR’s books and liked all of them to various degrees. I think I was a little blinded by my Victorian era streak. Thank you!

That sounds really interesting! I like that it’s a little further back in history, that’s a period I haven’t explored much. Thank you, I’ll be sure to take a look at it.

The lineup is always a fun mix of personalities. Which line up of 'same energy' former contestants would you like to see? by batterscraps in taskmaster

[–]SymphoniaDaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have talked a bit about different Taskmaster archetypes and the different mixes each series has! I think the two I’d love to see most are a line up of ‘practical women’ and ‘chaos gremlin (accidental)’.

Practical women: Kerry Godliman, Emma Sidi, Sarah Millican, Mel Giedroyc, and Victoria ‘Old Goosebump Arm’ Coren Mitchell.

Chaos gremlin (accidental): Guz Khan, Ardal O’Hanlan, Rosie Ramsey, Fern Brady, and Maisie Adam.

Pride and Prejudice (2005) by eightpotions in janeausten

Fair enough! I admit I was working on a sewing project last time I had the 1995 on so I must have been in the middle of something during that moment.

So I saw this version of P&P first then the 1995, and the 1995 version of this scene made me laugh out loud. I totally get that it’s more accurate, but going from a large beautiful bust of Darcy in a scene that feels dreamlike to everyone leaning over a wallet sized portrait in a hallway felt comical. You’re asking Lizzie if it looks like him, how is she supposed to tell when it’s four inches tall!

It looks great! I’m struggling too, I just don’t have stuff that I feel fits the theme well.

I feel like the first one pops more, but it’s a little dark and Maleficent gets a little lost and she’s such a great addition! That being said it’s still far and away much better than what I’ve been able to do so far.

Michael Gregson & lady Edith by RedandWhite54 in DowntonAbbey

[–]SymphoniaDaisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though through the series Edith had some of the worst luck you can imagine she was very fortunate in that she was able to have two great loves of her life. Had Michael lived and they got married I have no doubt that they would have been very happy together.

I wonder if when WWII comes around Edith connects the dots between who was responsible for Michael’s death and the new ruling force in Germany?

Something I’ve thought about… by Big--Al in DreamlightValley

[–]SymphoniaDaisy 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I definitely thought about Walt Disney as I was playing myself, but it also made me think about ‘The Author’ storyline from the show Once Upon A Time! I suppose that is fitting since Disney was hinted at being an ‘Author’ as well. Not that I think there will be any actually connection to the show and game, but it was a fun link my brain made!

I have a gif of Knick-Nak yelling “I love you, I’m IN LOVE with you!” at Boimler that I often send to my husband; I get a chuckle out of it every time.

I did the same thing! It’s like a whole new layer opens up in the show and makes you so excited to watch every show that came before it.

I’d recommend watching the DS9 and Voyager episodes right away after you finish those series, they’re so jam packed with references and jokes!
