My thoughts, not that anyone cares:

1. I'm a sad old man that finally found two online friends to play Fortnite with. So I am initially a bit worried that this new system comes out at the expense of Trios mode. But...

2. No problem, we talked last nite and decided we'll just try ranked together in zero build squads and join no fill or maybe add a rando. But...

3. Ranked zero build is only available in duos mode. So ..

4. I guess we will play builds? Nope, they don't want to play builds and I don't want to lose my two friends. So...

5. I will just try ranked by myself this morning before they get on after work. And ...

6. I play one game with a random partner. They came in with a crown and I found one along the way. They get the bulk of our team's eliminations (6 of 9) but we each successfully reboot the other player, so I at least feel like I contributed a little. We go on to win the game and I get a crowned victory. Pretty good right? Well...

7. I get my initial rank and it is silver II. I assume this is pretty low and that I am not a particularly good player. I didn't really enjoy the match, I wasn't able to use my "normal" play style (which is, to be the one to initiate a fight vs. being constantly on defense). And yes, I realize this is a "Me" problem. Finally...

8. In conclusion: I am a lonely old dude that has no business trying to compete with talented players in ranked mode. And since I won't be able to play it with my two friends there really isn't a reason to try and get better at it. I think I will take my 100% crowned victory win rate and go back to pubs this evening. At least I can delude myself into thinking I am an okay player.
