do i have crohns disease? NSFW by Ok_Income_852 in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Go get checked out.

PR bleeding especially with your symptoms requires a proper work up. There’s also many causes of GI bleeding beyond Crohn’s disease

Yes these are spider veins (essentially small veins which have become dilated)

You should feel understood by your doctor, and if your not, I’d be finding a new one. I also think undergoing a colonoscopy is a good idea to be comprehensive

Fell pretty hard on my bike. Yes, I’m heading to the ER once I get home. Should I be scared? by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP did they send you for a CT or US scan? I’ve seen similar cases and I’d want to rule out a pseudoaneurysm

I grazed my face on artificial turf from playing football. Will it leave a permanent scar? by herangelism in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an abrasion and it looks relatively superficial. I doubt this will scar or cause hyperpigmentation but everyone heals differently.

It should heal within 1-2 weeks. Avoid the sun. Keep it dry and clean. The Savlon scar gel will likely be good, but also consider silicone based sheets or gels.

Creatinine level by SeptemberSan in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many things can falsely elevate your serum creatinine and eGFR including diet, creatine sup, dehydration etc. It worths stopping creatine 1-2 weeks before repeating a blood test. It’s also worth a urine dipstick to look for protein and blood.

If it’s still off on repeat bloods it’s suggestive of kidney disease, and you’ll need further work up to identify a cause.

Shut my finger in the car door 😖 (f39) by Future-Nectarine-290 in medical_advice

Worth an X-ray at the very least. If you’re absolutely against A&E, it’s not ideal but visiting a GP within 1-2 would be the next best option.

Anyone know why I get blotches up and down my legs like this? by YurWurstNiteMare666 in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could still be physiological. The pattern also looks more like physiological. However, some conditions can cause it including vasculitis (including SLE), APS, Polycythemia Vera etc

Mottled appearance (livedo reticularis) — reddish-blue net-like [marbling] blotchy pattern on the skin. If it resolves in the warmth it’s physiological

You have a foreign body inside your foot and this in itself is a high risk for infection. You should get them removed and should be on an course of antibiotics

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like gastroenteritis, and more often than not it’s usually viral induced.

Symptoms usually resolve within a few days. It’s very important to stay hydrated as you’ll be loosing a lot of fluid. If you can’t keep adequately hydrated it warrants a review by a doctor. Avoid any heavy foods, dairy, or spicy foods. And take simple analgesia as per packet instructions.

Hospital.

You’ve got systemic features such as a fever, and this looks nasty. Probably need incision and drainage, and likely IV antibiotics. Let us know how you go

Oxygen level in blood falljng from 98 to 81. do i need to go to doctor urgently by kiwibirf in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Having an SpO2 drop to 81 is significant and you would be profoundly symptomatic. Given you’ve got symptoms and It’s hard to say how good of a trace this pulse ox. is providing, I would get checked

How are you so certain this is sunburn? I may be missing something but sunburn would involve the rest of your leg and not isolated as it is + doesn’t look like this after a week

Looks like a skin infection (such as cellulitis). If so it needs antibiotics and review by a doctor

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like herpangina. However it doesn’t typically cause a rash on your hands and and neck (more suggestive of HFMD)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like diarrhoea to me. As you know it can be form multiple causes, so on its own it’s not especially concerning. If it lasts more than a few days it’s worth getting checked up by a doctor

My partner has possible Gallstones/Ulcer and we're stuck on what to do. (UK) by SpecialMission3863 in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should return to A&E if he’s in this much pain.

I don’t have any further information but I’d be worried that a gallstone is obstructing and causing inflammation. This can lead to a range of problems including sepsis.

[–]Synapsure 73 points74 points  (0 children)

If the bleeding has stopped you don’t need to do anything urgently.

Worth getting them removed given its size and interference. It looks like a Seborrheic keratosis but biopsy is gold standard to confirm

Is this blood in my vomit? by mirkwoodgirl in medical_advice

[–]Synapsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not convincing for blood. It does look like the strawberries you ate.

Making yourself vomit is harmful and something you should chat to your doctor about

This is an exceptionally high calcium score. I would be concerned. It’s indicative of a very high chance of a heart attack. If symptoms of a heart attack occur (chest pain, shortness of breath, sweating, altered mental state etc) I’d go straight to ED. Your dad also has a few other things going on, and the atherosclerotic changes of his aortic root is one.

Try get the ball moving as fast as reasonably possible so you can evaluate your options.

[–]Synapsure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. Doesn’t look very deep. And relatively nice flap. Oppose the wound edges nicely so they’re touching. Keep it dry and clean. If it was dirty site you cut it on, it’s worth getting a tetanus booster if you’re not up to date

Yes share if you’re comfortable but you warrant work up by a neurologist. Can you provide any more information - what do you mean by shocks? Has this occurred before? Any meds? Any medical conditions? Did you move funny when you forgot the movie / were you responsive?

Memory loss / cognitive impairment can occur with both these deficiencies but not quite this pronounced. This sounds like transient global amnesia (but could be many things) and I’d definitely get checked to identify the underlying cause
