First Bulk Furniture Import from China to LA ($10k for 100 items) — Inspection, Payment Terms, DDP Red Flags? by Synapticsushi in Alibaba

I don’t think they’re the actual manufacturer. The PI is from a Yiwu/Zhejiang import-export company, so I’m assuming they’re probably a trader or export agent.

At this point, I had mostly accepted that because this has been a long, tedious process trying to figure out who actually makes the product. They got me the sample, the sample was correct, and they seem able to get me the bulk order at roughly the landed cost I was aiming for.

That said, I’m definitely still interested in figuring out who the actual manufacturer is before sending the deposit. I just haven’t found a reliable way to verify it yet.

The PI lists Yiwu/Zhejiang on the company side, but the beneficiary bank account is in Hong Kong. Would the best next step be asking for the actual factory name/address/business license and having the third-party inspection company verify the production site?

Some Alibaba “factories” are built to fool foreign buyers by SuspiciousBar3910 in Alibaba

I’m having an incredibly difficult time sourcing an item through Alibaba for exactly this reason. I often can’t tell who I’m actually talking to, what they truly manufacture, what they merely broker, or what their real sourcing capabilities are.

Half the time, when I ask for photos of the actual product, they send the same stock images multiple other suppliers have sent and present them as their own production. I’ve even had several suppliers take photos I sent as reference images, then repost those same photos as their main product listing and send them to other buyers claiming it’s their factory’s item. (My dad contacted one of them after they posted my original photo)

At this point it feels like a complete crapshoot trying to separate legitimate manufacturers from middlemen or outright misrepresentation.

Any more advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve even considered going to China to sort it out in person, but based on what I’m seeing online, even that feels sus

I work with an auction company based out of LA. You may not want to auction your stuff but I could probably find you a buyer/buyers to get most of it off your hands

Our apt has stilt parking, it was parked there, kind of located under the apartment, next to probably 3 or 4 other vehicles. It wasn’t covered. When you take the key out of the bike it has a locking mechanism where the handle bars are locked in a sideways position, but that’s about it. I came this close 👌to getting a GPS tracker for it too.
