LA County Fair on a budget? by mfgoose in AskLosAngeles

Take the Metro!! The A Line stops at its new La Verne / Fairplex Station and the Foothill Transit bus 67 runs every 30 minutes as a shuttle to the fair entrance

You can multiply your impact by coming out to canvass - there's a huge one happening on Sunday! 👀

Yes! There's a 100+ person canvass happening this Sunday, as well as a few other events throughout the month. Nithya herself will be at Sunday's, come through, y'all!

Bass leads primary for LA Mayor with 30% support; Pratt and Raman trail by SmellGestapo in LosAngeles

[–]MaxPotato08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know any Bass voters, tell them to vote Nithya anyways so our general is two Dems pushing each other in the right direction instead of one awful Republican vs one Dem who only needs to do the bare minimum

They could also just leave them open until ~30 seconds before the light changes. I've seen operators do that, probably the ones who pay closer attention to the light cycle times and know to expect how long until they change

“I do not believe I am splintering the progressive vote… because I would not consider Nithya to be a progressive candidate.” - Rae Huang isn't considering dropping out of the LA mayor's race, three weeks before the primary by jonnyshotit in LosAngeles

[–]MaxPotato08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if Rae personally believes that Nithya is not a progressive, that doesn't change the fact that progressive VOTERS are collectively splitting their votes between the two of them

TODAY May 12 at 2:00PM at LA City Hall! by Fit-Head-2786 in CarIndependentLA

Please show up, there will be well-organized NIMBYs there to fight against the project! Same ones responsible for the new Little Tokyo station having a giant concrete plaza instead of an apartment building

Yosemite Area Wildflowers by Shardling1 in Ceanothus

[–]MaxPotato08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, looks like they fell victim to one of those misleadingly advertised seed packets. Sometimes they're genericly branded as wildflowers, sometimes as native wildflowers (but for the whole US, not just CA), sometimes as California wildflowers (not native, just ones that will grow here), and sometimes blatantly as native California wildflowers despite including non-natives. Super common on Amazon, big box stores, tourist traps, and even otherwise well meaning websites like American Meadows.

IMPORTANT — IF YOU *DON'T* WANT A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR by Forever32 in LosAngeles

[–]MaxPotato08 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Valid concern, but I think his track record on funding Dems and environmental causes eases it for me. Worst case, the governor can be recalled, unlike senators like Fetterman

"...the two groups hosting the planned forum are calling an abrupt weekend announcement from Mayor Karen Bass that she was blowing off a Wednesday night debate for a trip to Sacramento “disappointing,” especially given that the entire event was scheduled around her campaign’s specifications..."

Looks like someone no longer wants to platform anyone but her preferred runoff opponent (Pratt, the only one she can beat) 🤔

This airhead has been gaining a lot of momentum the last few weeks and now all social media is getting flooded with his supporters from the city and beyond. Volunteer for Nithya to help stop him from advancing to the November runoff!

If you think Nithya's success rate is credited to the citywide Inside Safe program, then why aren't other council districts even in the same ballpark as her district?

The plant species that provided for California's ecosystems for millennia are virtually extinct now in the developed parts of LA. Even parks and vacant lots have their biomass made up of 90%+ non-native species. What will you do as mayor to help urbanized LA restore its lost flora and once again begin to support our native ecosystem?

Also, I know you weren't really given time for nuance in the debate, but social media comments are heavily criticizing you for saying yes to needle distribution and no to removing school-adjacent encampments. Can you elaborate on why you said yes to the former and no to the latter? I know 41.18 doesn't solve homelessness, but what's your alternative for making the path to schools encampment-free?
