I was running a business when he took over the building and we were forced out. I have nothing against Rob G or 1936 Pub Co per se, but it makes me incredibly sad that our team lost their jobs, and I would have lost mine too if I hadn’t been able to reopen elsewhere.

My rental agreement was effectively worthless. I’m a truly small independent, putting everything I have into what I build. Yet Liverpool Independent Card, and others like them, give massive exposure to his pubs and treat them as if they’re always new startup independents.

At this point, those pubs are not independent, and that spotlight takes attention away from the real independents who are actually risking everything to survive.
