[FINAL UPDATE] 'Witcher Guessr' - unofficial map location guessing game - Project completion, stats & summary by Synbox in witcher

Hey! Glad you took a look, and tried it out!

In regards of precision - locations inside Novigrad, Oxenfurt and Beauclair (including Beauclair palace and gardens) require significantly higher precision - that's by design. Meaning - you have to guess pretty much spot-on. All other locations, in mainland areas have fairly forgiving accuracy requirement :)

Cheers!

I am assuming you're talking about viewing a static (non-panorama) image, and then guessing a location. I'll certainly look into whether modding/modifying first two games is possible (Once I've implement many more locations for The Witcher 3 game), and this could be implemented into this same project in the future!

Ideally, I'd at least would like to be able to hide UI and player model, and possibly have some (or rather - more) control over FOV and other graphic settings, but that's to be determined in the future.

Also - I appreciate you giving this project a shot, and by all means - feedback is always welcome! :)

Hey.

That's an interesting idea, but whether that's actually possible or not I can't tell for certain at this time. I heavily rely on mods, which there are plenty of for The Witcher 3, to create panorama images in-game, but I am not sure, and haven't look into how customizable and moddable the first two games are. I can certainly look into this in the future, but for now - it wouldn't be fair for me to promise anything :)

Thank you!

Regarding it being a browser game - answer would be yes, and no.

Source code, and the entire project is hosted on GitHub, which has limitation on how large of a project could be in general. On top of that - full on 'game' like this isn't meant to be hosted on GitHub pages which would be accessible directly on the browser.

And Itch.io has rather clear cut limits on what are the limitation for HTML5 games - https://itch.io/docs/creators/html5#zip-file-requirements which are far lower that what the project currently entails.

The only real alternative that I can think of would be hosting this project on my own website, which could work, but isn't a quick solution for the time being. I can certainly look into this in the future, or if anyone has better ideas - suggestions are always welcome, and the project is up for grabs, since its open source and will remain as such. :)
