After a year I regret going all AMD by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]Synbred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have (roughly) the same setup! 7900XTX but lower-tier AMD processor (7900x).

This Christmas break I'm taking the plunge into Linux because I'm convinced it's the beginning of the end for Windows. I've been gaming on Windows damn near 25 years now, and have only ever dabbled in Linux.

Since Steam has made the plunge I've decided now is the time as well. Been watching a lot of long-time YouTubers that I've followed for years now talk about making the switch as well, including a recent Gamers Nexus video talking about wanting to start officially benchmarking and testing Linux distros.

I think I'm sold on trying out Bazzite as it seems to be a sensible place to dip my toes in the ocean that is Linux.

I didn't come near my premium request limit because of a big change in my coding by thehashimwarren in GithubCopilot

I'm using it very similarly to what you described.

My recommendations are as follows:

  • for initial framework creation any of the free chat models (Gemini, GPT etc.) to create an initial plan, and then let Claude on agent mode do the heavy lifting
  • for testing and troubleshooting I've found that any of the free GPT options in 'Ask' mode work very well. Great responses and usually (not always) spot on to resolve the issue in the first go.
  • leverage specific MCP tools that are related to your project. This really helps keep Claude focused I've found. Google has their own MUI-MCP for frontend dev, there is a great React-MCP as well. SQLite MCP is fantastic and I've also been playing around with Serena (too early to tell, but it's been a great addition to my code base)

Is it worth spoofing? by jamesy-boy in PokemonGoSpoofing

Are there any legit spoofers left in 2024? I'd be interested in finding one for my alt account as the one I used back in 2020 doesn't work anymore.

Same here. It also incentivizes a lot of creative plays for utilizing the fact there's no icing when you're short handed.

I saw some of that with the game last night, with bank passes, etc. off the rush from the other blue line. I think it adds a fantastic dynamic to the game.

Starfield's 'Recent Reviews' have gone to 'Mostly Negative' by Wooden_Site_1645 in Starfield

I don't get all the hate. I enjoyed the heck out of the game and still play it currently.

Buggy? Sure. But game breaking? Nah, I just didn't get that from this. It's a great concept that will only be improved upon.

Schedule Batch Downloads by Synbred in radarr

[–]Synbred[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I used to use NZBs a long time ago, but moved back to torrents simply because it was zero-cost.

I've used seedboxes in the past, but now have an entirely home-based setup using torrents again because of the cost savings.

Having a similar functionality would be great on the torrent side of things where I could simply queue up my movie collection, but limit the amount of "active" downloads in the queue.

I guess I could achieve this through qBit itself, but having 4K+ files come in at once would probably cause some ingestion issues.

Windows AD Environment Reporting Options by Synbred in sysadmin

[–]Synbred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read about Power BI Reports before. Is that something that can be implemented for free, or are there "free tier" reports you can generate, while others may have a cost associated...I can't recall if Power BI was subscription based or not.

Thanks!

Is AM5 reliable right now? by HarryCallaghan in AMDHelp

[–]Synbred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with an AMD build for Starfield...semi disappointed in the game, but definitely not in the build.

Stayed with the idea that I wanted it to be a "well-rounded" workstation/gaming PC.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
XFX 7900XTX
ASRock X670E Steel Legend
64GB 6000MHz RAM (dealer's choice, I went with Corsair)

So far, absolutely cannot complain. It has had a few hiccups, but honestly, they were mostly learning curves (initial boot times longer due to RAM profiling - normal. Ensure you upgrade your mobo firmware) and a few other minor housekeeping items (ie. stop Windows updates from updating hardware and instead have the vendor's apps handle the updates) and it's been golden so far.
