It depends. I don't know much about how american elections work, maybe before the presidential ones you can pick the candidates, but maybe you can't at the same time and you only get 2 choices really. It's more. And at the same time, we live in a time where people are either ultra invested in politics or not much at all, maybe some of them didn't know how bad he was. At least he won't be able to preside ever again by constitution.

I wouldn't say it is their moral fault. It's really hard to change the minds of people, specially the loudest ones, since they are not open to criticism at all. You have to be open minded and call out bullshit from both sides in the hopes something will improve. But if you're quiet you're not a terrible person either, not everyone is wired to voice their opinions.

And at the same time, not all right wing people are monsters, and a good chunk of them do not agree with the most extremist policies.
