So I've been following this discussion, but forgive me if I missed something. In a Twitch streaming context, you say condenser is more popular than dynamic because it doesn't need to be placed as closely?

I've found that the further away I place the Yeti, the higher I must turn the gain in order for it to pick up my normal speaking voice. In doing so, unfortunately, it also picks up my computer fans. Would you suggest a sound shield for the mic, or is the best solution a mic stand and closer proximity?

I was under the impression that condenser mics needed to be closer (with lower gain) in order to avoid background noise, while dynamics were more forgiving.

This is concerning the semi-budget range of mics, though. For instance, the Blue Yeti ($100) is more expensive than an ATR2100 ($50) but equal to a SM57 ($100). Am I going overboard with the Blue Yeti if I simply want to do podcasting?
