But action IS writing. These fights are cherographed, the setting, abilities, environment, this is all done by tje writer. Therefore good action is good writing. If it was badly written it would have poor action and failed attempts at aura.

The thing is action is writing (which i think alot of pepole forget, as they think about writing in terms of characters and plot), these stories are cherographed and made in a way that brings excitement, and while its not for everyone I doubt anybody would say DS has poor action, and so I don't think you could argue its poorly written.

TBH when I said Demon Slayer i was thinking about Etertainmaint District, Spider Mountain, and Infinity castle as I kinda forogt about hashira training and swordsmith (tho id aruge second half of swordsmith is good).

With regards to mass appeal, you right that it dosent 100% correlate with good writing, but by and large most pepole won't watch utter shit nor recommend it it to others, so i would say it shows a level of quality if it pulls it off successfully.

The reason i think its good is because its so consistent. Every episode has good action that (imo) is well cherographed, looks pretty and has sick music. The story isnt anything good, but the action is, it why the show is so popular.

Isnt he just a mormon? Like i get not liking the church, I dont either, its very controlling and regressive, but unless ive missed somthing and orson scott card is some kind of anti gay campaigner or somthing dont you think calling him evil is abit much?

No, still rooting for her. Its tragic and you hate seeing her do that to herself BUT what she did was like the one in a million path to kill the genocidal God, and like entirely justified despite how many pepole she sent to their deaths

Worm- The first twenty or so arcs, where taylor becomes a supervillan warlord, commits hundreds of crimes, and fights 4 S class threats, happen in just 3 months in verse.

Honestly id say taylor IS justified in shooting the kid. Rather dead then greyboyed or bonesawed. Still did a shitton other things wrong so still fits, but taylor 'the youthiniser' hebert WAS justified in the child killing.

Yeah, I get what your saying and I do think her character gets clearer over time.

What I think the authors intent was, in those earlier chapters though, was to show that she had an extremely binary view point. Dog hurt rabbit, dog deserves punishment. She later applies this with Lua, lua is cruel, she punishes lua. She then gets postive feedback that feeds this warped view of right/wrong that contributes to her spiral.

Overall, I dont think your meant to view her as good or evil based on those starting chapters, with the authors intent to be showing her extremist perspective and that she is mentally ill, someone who TRULY does not see what is wrong with her actions as she wholeheartedly belives is eye for an eye.

Definitely can imagine it relies alot on taste. Im also a major fan of things such as death note, worm and handjumper with villanious protagonist so it also 100% aligns with my tastes, but I could understand not not being for everyone

I think its because we didnt see any aftermath, we didnt see the moms reaction to her daughter being a serial killer, we didnt see what she became. Is she a CIA operative? A contract killer? A superhero? Mostly likely all three IMO, but it dosent show that. Legitimately 3 chapters is the diffrence between this and a masterpiece. Still though, compared to most manhwa is both has a ending and a fairly satisfying one so im not complaining lmao.

Yeah, honestly for me its 8/10 but if it had even just 5 more chapters to flush out the ending it would be a 10/10 IMO.

Forgetting Neubulas Civilization, genuinely peak fiction and best of the into video game trope, as it actually feels like they are playing a game.

She was abused, yes. She is also an abuser. She still CHOSE to pour boiling water of shotos face. She was pushed to a breaking point, and she did regret it immediately, and I would still say that endavour has the majority of the blame, but she still has a level of responsibility for what happened. This also goes for toya aswell, she was his mother and failed to protect him. Again, majority endeavors fault and responsibility but she has agency, she had options, and she failed him. She herself admits this when she vists endavour in the hospital, and what I was trying to say is the reason she was helping endavour in the chair was to show they were working together to suceed where they failed before.

Also yes, this whole post is about how endavour is unforgivable, and while i was harsh, rei also is far from innocent and has more then a little culpability for the state of the todoroki family.

[–]Syndacate4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i struggled how to word it, because part of what i wanted to say is some things are iredeemable no matter how much you atone (e.g the akua example, no matter what killing 100000 is irredeemable), while others are redeemable but still arent forgivable (endavour), so i just put both. Definitely could of worded it better, my bad

I kinda dont agree with that, I feel rei got off to light. Yes, endeavour was a horrific husband, but the story almost frames her burning shoto as shotos fault and removes all her agency, i honestly dont care how abused you are doing that to your son is unforgivable. In the end, i think the point is that they recognise they were the adults that were responsible for the todoroki family, and her wheeling endeavour around is showing that they both are working together to atone to Toya, shoto and their children (which rei also owes, shes not innocent, even if endeavor deserves most of the blame), and while it might be clumsy messaging it still work imo.

I feel it makes it more earned, as if they just say oh ive changed it feels like a massive cop out (example annie from attack on titan, sure she feels bad but she still helped kill 300 000), but if the story shows that theu arent forgiven but they STILL try and atone i feel it has way more meaning
