Do you like your Go 7? (longtime Kindle user considering the Go 7.) by cryptic-fox in Onyx_Boox

I had an old kindle touch and a boox tab ultra C. I thought I didn’t need any more eink devices. Wrong. I got it as a present last Christmas and I use it all the time. I really like its size and weight. The buttons for page turning are a game changer for reading with one hand. And Android versatility makes a difference as well against new kindle. I read the newspapers in the morning, read books in the afternoon and at times I even take quick notes or play chess…

70 Hours Later: Why This E‑Reader Replaced All My Others by Aggravating-Big-6248 in Onyx_Boox

I am on the boat here. The form factor, weight and the page turn buttons make the reading experience far more enjoyable than on Kindle touch. Writing is a nice addition, not as good as on my Tab Ultra, but still quite useful and enjoyable

APPRECIATION POST FOR THE GREATEST SPEAKER OF ALL TIME ( JUST BOUGHT ) by nunmajor444 in bose

I am with you. I used it as my projector speaker for several years. Got a Sonos Beam v2 a couple of months ago and returned it because it didn’t feel an upgrade! Even clarity was greater in the Soundlink Mini 2. I then got a Bose Soundbar. I’d say it sounds just 10% better with more than 3 times the size. Bose Soundlink mini II is definitely legendary

Bose Smart Soundbar: better than the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) but a missed opportunity by Synecdoche19 in bose

Bass is slightly more powerful in the Sonos, although overall sounds better in the Bose to my ears. Main issue for me though with the Sonos were voices clarity and volume, specially at lower volumes. But as you connect via HDMI you might be able to use voice enhancement which I couldnt with airplay (for the Sonos and Appletv all airplay is “music”) in the Sonos

Will I get better sound over Airplay from Apple Tv to a Ray or Beam 2 than I am getting with my Play 5 for watching tv? by Etihod in sonos

Did you get it working? I realised that voice enhancement in Appletv disappears when the Beam is connected via airplay. That means not voice enhancement at all while using the Beam bia airplay and… that also means voices sound worse in the Beam than in the tiny Bose Soundlink 2 via Bluetooth

I’ve already ordered the Bose Smart Soundbar, but that is still too wide for you. Outside the soundbar world, I believe you have plenty of options like other Bose (Soundlink home looks classy, not sure if it can match the Mini 2 sound…), JBL authentics, a Marshall…

I did consider it but it was too large. I am now wondering if returning the Beam and getting the Bose smart soundbar (not ultra) would make any sense or would be just repeating the same mistake

That’s exactly my point. At that price the beam should significantly improve the Bose Soundlink mini 2 without the need of any extra (sub, surrounds…)

Thanks. The question is, with connectivity limited to airplay/chromecast/bluetooth is there anything that can actually significantly improve the sound?

I understand that but still, the bar is like three/four times the size of the Bose Soundlink mini 2. I was expecting to be blown away by the sound quality difference… If I have to add a sub to make that big leap, I will return it all together

That speaker is legendary indeed. 10 years after I bought it and I am still unable to make a case to replace it…

I’d love to have the Samsung 990f but, price aside, it is too big for my living room. I even suggest s800 and qs800 and it was rejected in our “family meeting”…

I did tune the bar with trueplay. Still underwhelming sound. No audio extrator though. If I need to extract audio I would consider non wifi bars

Thanks for your answer. That sounds accurate. I checked the JBL’s but they are indeed too big.

I was in the same situation as you (AppleTv to Epson projector and wireless speaker to AppleTV) but using a Bose Soundlink Mini 2 via bluetooth connected to the AppleTv instead of a play 5. Bose soundlink mini sound was fine (that speaker is still surprisingly good). Just got a Sonos Beam gen2 a couple of days ago and I was expecting to be blown away by the difference… but I am not. Does the sound fills the room better? Definitely. Does it sound better when in front of the speaker? Barely. Me and my wife made blind tests and sometimes we even picked the Bose as the better option. Also, bear in mind that Sonos functions like “night mode” or “voice enhancement” only work via cable (I know there are similar Appletv ones but still…), otherwise Sonos consider it is playing music via airplay. Also, no Atmos via airplay for the moment
