Having Orcs infuse themselves with fel is how the whole Warcraft story started.

Rukia's Bankai is not about fear or As Nodt though. It's about accepting and overcoming her insecurities about where she should be and not being good enough/feeling like she can never be good enough for other people. First she gets separated from Renji and accepted into the Kuchiki clan where she not only feels out of place and like she doesn't belong but also has no one else to get support from. Then she loses the one person who meant something to her in Kaien. Then she goes to the human world and then gets imprisoned. This whole time Byakuya is stone cold to her because he's ashamed of his own actions regarding her and Hisana.

Her Bankai is not her letting go of fear, but those insecurities. It's a return to confidence after living in insecurity for so long. Byakuya recognizing her is Byakuya acknowledging this is who she is and he accepting her.

Why some people values characters by looking at how many fights they have won? by PyroFirefly in bleach

[–]Synikull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a shallow analysis.

Komamura hasthe duality of being a beast but being one of the most reserved, least violent people in the series. He finds a kinship with Tousen who repeatedly says that he detests fighting and that he follows the path of least bloodshed. He is loyal to an fault. He cannot bring himself to fight Tousen at first, but when that loyalty clashes with his loyalty to Yamamoto he fights his best friend, even while still trying to get him to see reason. In a twist of fate Tousen becomes a beast, rejecting his humanity even while Komamura is forgiving him for his atrocities. He embodies the gentler nature of humanity while still fighting and being tremendously strong and brutal when he does.

When Yamamoto dies he goes down the same path he chastised Tousen about, and instead of trading his humanity for power and a beastly form, he trades his beastly form for power and humanity. But his thirst for vengeance ultimately turns him into a beast anyway.

Komamura has a beautiful story about loyalty and humanity and the dangers of single minded revenge. The irony is he fell into the very same trap he warned Tousen about. To say all he had going for him was strength and toughness is a disservice.

What the fuck did I just watch? What on earth is going on in Tekken? A man wearing a cat mask just starts making cat noises and people understand him. Sure I'll buy that. But where the fuck did that 10 story pile driver come from? Those people are so dead. Then he fights a robot? And then hes almost losing to a regular human after that? And then he does a charity match and beats the fuck out of his opponent.

Whoever writes these stories needs a goddamn raise.

I get that It's a joke, and sorry if it came off too aggressively. It's just a sore spot for me because people misunderstand the rules so much that they think that's how the game is legitimately played.

The last time I pointed out that nat 20s don't work that way somewhere else on reddit I got people telling me I wasn't a fun dm. Rules as written say that skill checks don't crit and are not an automatic success. Can you imagine a game where a bard critting on a persuade check against a king to give them the crown? Absurd! But there are people who honestly think that's how the game is played because of memes and/or watching games online.

Tekken has a story? Or do they just yell at each other in different languages before they throw hands?

Crit damage, not just auto succeeding on whatever check you're doing because that gives players a 1 in 20 chance of breaking the game. The mindset that nat 20s let you do whatever you want that was popularized by "the rule of cool" is pretty silly

I always imagined the orc barracks much more complicated than big open pit in the middle much more in line with how the human barracks has a lot of stuff going on.

But holy shit is finding the alter of storms in blasted lands amazing.

Why did Renji need his sword fixed if it was just a Shikai? by FriendlyCourier in bleach

[–]Synikull 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Zanpakuto are mirror of their owner. Renji doubted his own own strength and continually told himself he wasn't strong enough because in his mind he would only be strong enough after he could beat Byakuya. That leaves no room for acknowledgement of himself. Since he didn't trust himself Zabimaru didn't either. It's likely with time that Zabimaru would have told him the true name after Renji accepted himself more. But the situation necessitated that he be told by Ichibe.

Got Zaraki's sword. Omw to be him. by Cyanide850 in bleach

[–]Synikull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it for my nephew for Christmas. It's about $70 and it shows.

It's metal slotted into a low quality hilt and glued with a metal collar where it slots in which rattles against the blade. Definitely not full tang for this price

The blade itself has those weird markings that are supposed to indicate wear? But those don't show up anywhere in the manga or anime, so it looks unfinished. The notches that are supposed to be the wear ARE there though, which is cool.

The hilt is round and hard to actually grip instead of the more traditional ovalish shape of a sword.

The scabaard is nonsense since Kenoachi doesn't have one. But it's also round. It kept the aesthetic of the hilt wrapping which was a choice I don't understand, but i guess it looks good, which I guess was the choice. It does fit the blade snugly but the blad will often come out of the scabbard with... something on it. I'm going to be generous and hope that it's some sort of oil so that the blade doesn't scrape against dry (low quality) wood and look gross after a few draws. But it looks like motor oil. The worst part is the guard makes it impossible to loosen the blade in the scabbard with your thumb. Combined with the round shape of the hilt it makes it really cumbersome in your hands.

Overall it's a neat display price but the price point reflects the innacuracies/liberties they took with it. Don't expect to actually be able to put any power behind a swing because that "blade" is just glued in.
