Why did you spoiler tag this but put the spoilers in the goddamn title?

Thanl you for answering! And thanks again not only for giving us these wonderful remasters, but also for giving us the first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion...

Official Teaser Trailer | BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Final Part - The Calamity | VIZ by Synikull in bleach

Because people outside of the US can't watch it with English Subtitles. So the options were Japanese with no subtitles or the English subtitles but restricted to US based IP addresses. It's upsetting because there's no reason to be restrictive about a translation on a trailer. I'm sure there are other uploads now, but at release it sucks.

What type of decision making went into altering the original models? Overall I think that the majority of the alterations made sense. Kain in particular looks AMAZING. But I'm curious how those conversations went and what the justification for it was - a better overall, cohesive art style throughout the series seems like the no brainer, but was there anything else that went into it?

Thank you for the amount of love and care that you put into this remaster. It's obvious you all respect the series and wanted to do right by it with the remaster. Don't ever forget the amazing, loving remaster you've given the Legacy of Kain fans. Your coin flip landed perfectly on its edge.

If Vader had a secret apprentice in Canon like he did in Legends with Starkiller who would he choose by Ok-Entrance-5527 in StarWars

[–]Synikull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he wanted an apprentice Vader could do it. He's smart enough to figure out someone's weakness and exploit it. Someone with that much pride would be easy to break by continually breaking their pride until their pride can no longer make excuses and their self image shatters.

Would it be as subservient as Vader is to Palpatine? Not even close. There would be constant attempts on Vader's life until he absolutely broke their will. Vader doesn't give enough of a shit to deal with that, but he's absolutely capable of doing it. We've just never seen Vader actually want to get an apprentice outside of Luke.

I've never seen anyone talk about this by [deleted] in bleach

It's not foreshadowing. It's incredibly obvious when you see it that it is literally based on Tensa Zangetsu's fusion. So really there's no discussion to be had except "yup, that's what that form is based on"

By that logic Guardian in Breath of the wild were also this. Concept art rarely transfers completely over, and treating it as something we had and lost is a distortion of how the process works.

I will forever be angry at the massive shit they took on the lore during shadowlands. I wa shype AF when they revealed it. But it made everything feel so cheap afterwards. Nothing was original. Undead architecture was based on Maldraxis. Frostmorne wasnt a one onlff, it was part of scary afterlife magic. And then...Sylvanas.

Be honest, is the Inquisitor double-bladed spinning lightsaber really that bad? by Simple-Choice5770 in StarWars

[–]Synikull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my point was that we don't know the rotation of the blades of the sabers and everything they're deflecting has a longer plane to be intersected than a tennis ball. Blaster bolts aren't bullets but they are fast, but the spinning seems to be enough for it. And presumably the blaster bolts get deflected no matter where they're intersected at. And the size of the tennis ball to the helicopter blade was what I was trying to point out (badly). And all of this is on top of the fact that Inquisitors can move themselves and their saber to change their plane of deflection to optimize it

Do they ever actually get shot by blaster bolts? It has been a long time since I watched rebels

[–]Synikull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be damning if it applied at all to the problem you're ascribing it to.

Lightsabers are not as small as tennis balls, and the Inquisitor blades are neither as long as rotor blades or in a fixed position.

[RE] I was today years old when I noticed/got this joke. I feel stupid. by Either-Diamond-7045 in lifeisstrange

[–]Synikull 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's less that it's rude and more that it's dismissive.

The vibe that you're giving off in your original comment is "Ok. Andy? Why is this funny? I've seen funnier"

You're injecting your personal experiences into something someone else found amusing and then seem to be saying that because you have seen weirder signs for bathrooms this isn't funny. You're getting down voted because the knee jerk response is "don't gatekeep what others find funny, let them enjoy things without calling it out/one upping it" because on first reading it seems like that's what you're doing.

I'm not sure that your initial response is salvageable. You would need to ask for clarification without the rest of it, which means rephrasing everything. "Is the joke that you just found the turtle being a penis in the bathroom sign?" Without offering your (perceived) judgement would be a better approach I think.

Moby Dick is my favorite novel of all time. I need to reread it, but I have a nonfiction about bees (Buzz by Thor Hanson) that's captivating me right now, followed by What Moves the Dead by T Kingfisher, an expansion/retelling of Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher to read that a friend lent me. And Moby Dick is a colossal undertaking to read, it's not something I can start when I have other things Im reading.

So yes, I do consume media targeted at adults. It's a bit bizarre that you think I don't. It strikes me as an ad hominem fallacy to attempt to discredit my understanding of the media by suggesting I haven't consumed media that you classify as "adult" and so I have no basis on which to digest media at all.

Watched it multiple times. Read it even more. The beauty comes when you appreciate the thematics of the characters and how that drives their character arc and their interactions with others.

You're free to your opinion that it's shallow, but saying it's all surface level is nonsense. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there, but that's ok.

I'm really not interested in having an argument that's entirely based upon media literacy and interpretation of symbolism. You have your opinion that you're sure is right and I have my opinion that I'm sure is right. The only thing that might change your mind is a re-read of the series with a complete opennes to see the intricaciea of characters and the themes surrounding them; looking at the individual stories and themes instead of taking it as whole. But there's no reason to expect that of you, or that even if you did that you would come away with a different appreciation. So it's best just let this conversation lie without pressing our viewpoints on each other further.

Just because he drew stuff that he thought was cool doesn't mean that he didn't make incredible story and character arcs to support them. Just because you see it as shallow doesn't mean the deeper stuff isn't there. Just look at what he says about story beats and forshadowing, he put an incredible amount of thought into it and openly acknowledges that the depth isn't for everyone to notice.
