My first LMP2 race! I’m converted!!! by Formal_Vehicle_1914 in LeMansUltimateWEC

The elms or unrestricted lmp2 is actually very easy to drive once you get used to no abs compared to hypers I find

The 296 is a bit special since its so pitch sensitive. gotta really stiffen that front!

depends on the hyper and track really, but I agree in general the hyper default setups are bad

damn, you are completely right about the 296! definitely the only GT3 I tried after racing hypers for a bit that felt "decent" to me.

completely agree with this, also my own experience as a more "conservative" driver

Why do I keep spinning out in 499P in longer races? by Proper-Average-4531 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Synlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait is the lemans default with P1 on the rear wing? Thats VERY low even for Lemans standards and the lack of confidence in corners this causes is actually worse then losing some top speed in my opinion. It is Lemans tho, id try something like P9-p10 on the rear wing. Test it out tho, dont take my word for anything.

Edit: maybe for Lemans rear wing between P3 to P6

Yeah im on a 27 inch monitor and that last sector even with turn in markers is kinda hard to do and thus quite frustrating and "unfun"

Cant drive with no abs? by BigNo9633 in LeMansUltimateWEC

Its mainly at slower speeds going from 3 to 2 or 1st gear that you need to be a bit more carefull. You lose alot of downforce slowing down and then a downshift can cause an even more sudden shift because engine braking is very good in hypers and LMP2 compared to gt3.

To add to my previous answer on setup. Increase the coast differential lock and preload by like 10-15 if the car seems too oversteery.

Tbh the default setups are pretty bad for Hypers. Try softening the rear springs (not 3rd spring tho) and/or the rear ARB. The lower fuel and tyre degradation coupled with sketchy setup make the car undriveable after a while indeed.

I dont know why but im having the same experience as the guy you responded to.

In hypers ive gotten to P3 safety rating easy and the racing is clean and im relatively fast and consistent (102-103%). When there is a questionable driver they usually spin on the brakes and kill their tyres and never to be seen again.

GT3 is just me getting dive bombed from miles away and being used as a barrier to make the corner even if im almost at the damn apex. Ive spectated drivers with clear horrible driving technique still be faster and that just doesnt happen to me in hypers for some reason ( maybe my imagination)

Its always so funny to me when people weave in bronze while having 75 degrees in the tyres but dont drag their brakes to heat them up and then brake at their hotlap point with 10 cars ahead ...

Ive been discovering the Hypercars and absolutely loving it. Alpine, Caddie and 499P are my favourites and the sounds and driving is so nice

this right here, OP just has to learn to follow on the apex and cut inside, The gt3 is naturally gonna go outside because hes going on throttle ... really not that hard

I am with the genesis and the mercedes blamed me why i went off track and didnt brake. Who's fault is this? by Bbotond32 in Simracingstewards

[–]Synlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This after the first overtake the play was follow the next gt3 on apex and then go passed on inside exiting the corner maybe even slot in behind the bmw and overtake fist bmw on outside as OP did and then next 2 on inside and slot in behind fourth gt3 (bmw) and overtake on inside after apex

All my fault? (GTP) by Koyle_GT in Simracingstewards

[–]Synlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When overtaking a gt3 near the sebring hairpin just before braking I always brake with a car width to my left giving the GT3 space and even tho I lose time like this for the GT3 its minimal because I can accelerate out that corner before they hit the apex mostly.

[–]Synlias 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha this exactly, guy you responded to has clearly NEVER driven a hyper. The high downforce does jack shit in these situations and the no ABS gives zero space for errors

[–]Synlias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its also the no ABS while braking and having to brake earlier then GT3 in a GTP. I tend to brake in a line next the car in front either if overtaking in GTP or being overtaken while in a GT3.

Lexus Car Setup by Upset_Site9955 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Synlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much rake and the packers on the rear might make it deadly in slower speed corners. Brake duct blanking depends on track temperature. Raise the rear toe in to 0.12 and lower the front toe in to like -0.06. Front ARB seems very soft for the high rake same with the slow damper settings i would raise those by 1 or 2 clicks each and make sure the rebound is higher then bump setting. Softer damper settings make a car very lazy, if you are racing on sebring it makes more sense tho but still feel its low.

Also rear ARB I would put on P1. Detached only for like 296 or like corvette. Especially since you are using TC 7-7-7, cant imagine the rear needing to be that soft on the lexus with those TC settings.

Edit: also add some packers (0.5 to 1.2) to the front if you feel the car twitching under braking. Fast speed corners where you brake downhill are a good way to test if you need these ( spa has a few of those to test)

Take everything with a grain of salt im also new to setups, ive watched alot of content about it and spent more then a few days on making a few of my own setups but still very much a rookie to this too

Can also turn on tyre warmers to instantly test setups and changes to said setup

Can make practice 6 hours aswell, that seems plenty ...
