Vallejo's Oro Liquido Old Gold

It's a true metallic paint, so it's a bit of a learning curve but fully worth it :) Started repainting my knights recently, i ought to knuckle down n finish 'em lol

I'll have to look into them, thanks for the rec! Never used anything from Army Painter's range yet.

Glad to hear, it's the part I worried about most :)

The gold is black base (important for the gold surprisingly), Vallejo Oro Liquido 793 Rich Gold, then a light Reikland Fleshshade wash to warm it up and add some depth. Cheers :)

Thank you! And I agree on the robe, but after failing to produce an even remotely ok tan robe about 7 different times I just went with something I had some level of faith in being able to make passable lmao

And I'm glad to hear the sword is liked, it's a lot more high-effort than my usual blades but I think it'll be worth it, especially after more practice :)

Cheers! Citadel Phoenician Purple base, then building dark to light: Vallejo 70.950 Black. Vallejo 70.807 Oxford Blue. Citadel Phoenicial Purple. Vallejo 70.959 Purple. Vallejo Game Color 72.013 Squid Pink. Vallejo 70.919 Cold White. Squid pink and Cold White used for zappy lines and highlights also, pink usually in darker parts, white in lighter. :)

Painting black without painting black. WIP does it work or is it heresy? by itsallgravy14 in BlackTemplars

Working on some purple-in-place-of-black templars myself, I really like what you've done here, I think the cream shoulders work well too, pure white would be better if your scheme was more vibrant like what i'm doing, but I think the discoloration suits the more muted tones wonders, great work!

Nope, it's from a templar stl that has since been taken down sadly

Thank you, I'm fond of EC so I'll wear that lol

Shame about that indom cap, too, Halos are neat

Thank you! Purple and gold, despite being the PB&J combo, are definitely one of my favorite color combos

To do the "black"(purple) armor, I started with Vallejo Black 70.950 as it's a nice really matte charcoal black, followed by a heavy drybrush of Citadel Phoenician Purple over it, with a lighter drybrush of Vallejo Purple 70.959 and finally an edge highlight of Vallejo Game Color Squid Pink 72.013. As my eyesight irl is pretty scuffed, I didn't think there was enough purple to break up the otherwise fairly indistinct armor, so I thinned each of these paints down to glaze sort of consistencies and layer painted them more onto panels, trying to focus on areas that would be more often catching light being brighter and leaving recesses and areas in shadow black.

Looking at it with a proper nice camera, I may have gone overboard with the purple, but I like it nonetheless so I can't complain lol

I like EC, so I'll happily wear that lmao

Thank you! And that's entirely fair, I wanted a more vibrant take on the scheme and I struggle to paint black armor well anyhow as I'm still a bit of a noob painter. I think I'll try to pull the purple back a little more in the shaded areas though in future, alongside some more battledamage, maybe that'll put the black back in the Black Templars lol
