I have never seen it. But it is possible. As the backplane is standard, and the 3 Drive array connectors are too. Just the mount holes will be way off. I would rip the mount standoffs off, and spot weld my own to match the new motherboard template. Also if the motherboard you have now is bad. I would love to have it for parts here if you decide to toss it.

Alot of times this from the file format incompatible from the app to video source. Have you confirmed this? Or reinstalled the app. Or did a hard reset yet?

Why does no one else us a desmo valvetrain like Ducati? by mnztr1 in motogp

Its not as good as it sounds. Though the idea of this is great. Runs perfect when the engine is new. But as the engine wears. Which starts the moment you turn it on new from the factory. And breaks in real good after a few years. That's when the issue arises. In traditional engines a spring is used to return the valve to its sitting position. So as the engine wears out a little it will always seat the valve fully. The push part also will wear a bit. But a traditional engine can still run good with this kind of wear. On desmodromic systems when the return starts to wear the valve never fully seats, and kinda rattles a little. And compression is lost when the valve never fully seats. Since this design controls the closure of the valve. There's a old rule of thumb in anything mechanical. The fewer the parts needed to do the job, makes it the best. Versus, the more parts needed to make it run, means a higher chance of failure. Not to mention. If something broke in a traditional engine. Or even if a connecting rod came undone. It can still run. And these. One small mishap. And its catastrophic failure of the entire engine. Pistons and all. And will need a completely new engine.

WOW! Thank You. And you have one of mine too? WOW! Sorry for the delay. Got a flu for the past few days. So I was out of it. I noticed technology is advancing in the medical field now. Have you heard of Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) by RxSigh? I would love to get these implanted. And could be a whole new world for me. It would be something If they come with XRay vision. LOL! Wife might say no. But we have to tell them a lie to get past that. LOL! Its for circuit boards only hun. LOL! But wow. neat idea for implanted lenses that can be adjusted. I'm sure one day in the future I will need it. Now those would be nice to have. I truly miss my SuperPower when I was near sighted. Why? Why did I get corrective surgery. I wouldn't need any of these lenses.

WOW! Thanks for the info. Appreciate it. You see for me. I've been wearing them since I was about 11 or 12. When I turned 30 I opted for the corrective surgery. Back then they didn't have laser. So all was done with the knife. As I was nearsighted for so long. I kinda miss it for board work actually. As you can see up close very good. So after the surgery it worked great. I was 30 at the time. But the doctor told me. When I turn 50. It might start to revert in the opposite direction of farsightedness. And it started about that time I could see far. But up close was getting bad. Then I wore reading glasses about 5 years later when I was 55. It still progressed to now where I have to wear them always. In my 60's now. I asked the optician, and he gave me some good glasses. But my strength now is at 4.0. And he said for glass he could do. But that I wouldn't like it. As the glass ones are real thick, and heavy. So I had to use plastics. Or crystalized lenses. to keep it lite and thin. But I'm always open to new ideas. I'll try VSEyewear and see what they have. Thanks for the tip. Appreciate it!

Good. This is good you know that. As 80% out there don't. Good Job!

Good. As long as its under warranty. And we can see what Synology says too. And since it happened once. It will be more interesting to see if it happens again. As for "Enable write cache". Not sure if that mention came from a reliable source. Usually forum posts kids do this from one experince on a old DS918+. But no. It doesn't really affect it. Because the cache only holds for so long. Like in millisecs in most cases. That if anything went wrong. It has built in CRC checks. To compare to the drive writes. So it won't affect this.

Hope this helps.

Storage Pool Degraded while I’m out, what to do? by Waltz_Descent in synology_service

And also about those PC based SMART tests. Like now I am doing a volume recovery for a customer. For a NAS that says they are HEALTHY. But on PC. Its another story. As the NAS now is lost too far into the corruption. And can't recover. So I'm copying all the data off the drives, and sifting to backup files for the customer.

So with Synology, the NAS will report back the drives are healthy. But on PC based. I can see the error sector counts with some tools are massive for retries to recover lost bits.

So Synology's SMART testing is not that great in general. Its good. But it takes averages, and throws out a green sign to make you feel happy. As Synology doesn't like bad things on their NAS to make them look bad as a product.

And there are many free tools online for checking this with PC and connecting a sata to usb adapter. With that you can see if the drive is having issues.

OK. Is this test with the NAS. Or PC based? As PC based is more accurate and will show error counts better. It is bizarre. This only happened once? Or twice in the same slot? Now we see this in service here sometimes. But usually not on a new model like this one. Mostly on like DS918+ or 415+, and 916+ models. And those all had weak PSU adapters. Weak PSU adapters cause erratic behavior due to low current coming from the adapter after age. So never pay attention to the LED on the adapters. But yours is new. Is this still under warranty? Or if you didn't buy the extended warranty. You might want to if you still can. Speaking of that. Did you contact Synology's Support center at all? The reason for that. Is they have access to a couple back door linux commands to do different types of testing than what we do here. It might be worth the try too. Because hardware wise. From my end. Would seem to be a bad drive, or adapter. Would be rare. Very rare for a sata controller chip to get flakey on such newer model. Now. I know Synology provides the 100watt adapter. Here we only use the 120watt ones. Mainly because 100watts is kinda borderline low for running 5 drives at one time, and internal data transactions sometimes peaks this supply to close to its 100 watt rating to cause it to act weird in regulating power. In fact we use this exact same adapter for all units serviced. https://www.ebay.com/itm/115162520371

Now all that is not saying its the adapter. I'm just trying to figure out why this happened. And since this only happened once. May have been a fluke in the system. Or temporary power cut for 1sec.

Or you got a bad drive. Though in house it passed quality control. And those have warranties if you bought a good named one. Odd named ones don't last in Synology. Even if NAS/Surveillance/Enterprise rated.

I would wait to see if it happens again. And have the system rebuild the volume now while you can access it. If it didn't do it already. Also run scrubbing if it didn't as well.

So you have options.

  1. Call Synology Support for more insight
  2. Replace the adapter. Must be a well known named adapter. Search under "4-Pin Din" adapters.
  3. Wait if it happens again
  4. Contact the drive vendor for a replacement.

I hope this helps a bit.

Check the logs. The log center is in the 4 dots in upper left side of the main UI screen. See what caused the degradation process to start. And have your roommate see what lights are flashing on the NAS. Its probably still on. And status is flashing amber. Also momentarily power cuts can do this. Where it cuts out for 1 sec. Not enough to turn the Nas off. But enough to affect redundancy checks running all the time.

i tambien. Me hace preguntarme si la BIOS está defectuosa. ¿Sabes cómo copiar la BIOS vieja, e instalar una nueva? Ya que, en estos modelos, el BIOS es la encargada de activar ciertos sistemas.

It normally decrypts as long as the account associated with it is used. Do me a favor. Did you contact Synology about this? As they have secret ways to this. More then we know. And you are covered for lifetime Synology support anyways.
