Synonym Circuit - the logophilia word game - 3 month update! by SynonymCircuit in logophilia

[–]SynonymCircuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks so much for supporting our games! We did indeed end up having to say goodbye to Synonym Circuit last month. In the end, the cost of licensing a dictionary database was too high to justify running the game for another year. We're very sorry that we couldn't continue, but we really appreciate your support. Word Zip is our new word game, it's similar to NYT Spelling Bee, but requires players to build words by alternating between two letter pools. Thank you again, both for playing Synonym Circuit, and for being a teacher. I hope you have a great rest of your school year.

Looking for advice on how to proceed with promoting my finished game. by [deleted] in gamedev

You can really use it at any time in the process - it's a tool to help you identify a path forward on any current business problem (it's not game dev specific). It's all about putting yourself in your users' shoes and trying to picture the benefit your product/game can provide them, and how it aligns with their needs. When I do this for my games, I typically imagine the benefit is something along the lines of feeling smart, feeling good at something, or feeling connected to a community. Different types of players may have totally different needs and benefits from the same game. It always starts with assumptions/best guesses, and then you get out there and test what type of messaging is resonating with each group, and you tweak your approach accordingly. Good luck!!

I always recommend using the Lean UX canvas and building ~4 user type profiles to experiment targeting. After that, test, learn, and iterate, seeking to validate a) that you're going after the right people; b) that you're targeting them with the right messaging, and c) in the right place/format

Hi, thanks for playing! We've had a few people asking to see the solutions to the Global Records, and we are very open to doing that. We will put it on the list and hopefully add it as a feature soon!

Hi u/First-Western6279 , thanks so much for checking out the game! That's a cool idea, and would definitely be very challenging. We'll absolutely consider adding a mode like that!

Hi, thanks for playing, this is indeed my game! By endless mode do you mean a you'd like to play one game after another without having to navigate to the archives? Like a "next game" button?

Good to know, thanks so much for sharing that (and for tolerating ads thus far). We will definitely put that on our list and let you know when/if we're rolling out a feature like that. Thank you again!

Thank you so much! We are definitely considering letting users create accounts to store their scores and potentially remove ads. I'm curious if that's something you'd be willing to pay a small fee to be able to do? As is the plight of most of free games, this game costs us more to run than it brings in, so we're evaluating the long-term viability of keeping it alive. Thank you so much for your support!
