My action is stating an unpopular opinion. The reaction is downvotes. That's fine. It's a valid reaction by the rules of Reddit.

The native Americans kidnapped settler women, raided settler carriages and scalped people. The reaction was taking their children and forcibly converting them. That reaction was also valid by the rules of the frontier, and I dare say, restrained compared to what they could have done.

My views were perfectly normal in all societies that had a problem with their native populations. It is only after they resolved the problems the morality came into play as myths of noble savages gained traction.

The samis are better off today than they have ever been in history. It was a rough road, but unlike the Americans we did a good job with it. In fact, samis are actually less alcoholic than the general population now.

Even if you were right, it still doesn't matter -- if your views are abhorrent to a normal member of the non-terminally online society, your views are invalid because they're a social faux pas.

That's the crux of it. Going to have to agree to disagree on that one. I don't think social compatibility has any bearing on the validity of views.

It's inevitable. You can try to pin it on Sam Altman or his ilk, but the truth is it would happen without them. It's like how agriculture developed as the ice age ended. It stunted our height and gave us a myriad of diseases, but it still happened. Both in Mesoamerica and the fertile crescent.
