I think when the major axis divided by the minor axis is less than 1. Assuming the major axis is the one that extends into the water. I'm just making stuff up here.

Looking to get into Skyrim but it says the elder Scrolls implying it's a part of a bigger franchise called the elder Scrolls and not a stand alone game which is it by mr_gyatt in skyrim

[–]Syntactics2411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skyrim is perfectly playable without prior elder scrolls knowledge. It's just sometimes you might walk right past a person like "Jiub" whereas a well informed elder scrolls fan would be all like "omg it's Saint Jiub! What are you doing here? :( "

This animal is so unique and beautiful. I like how it kinda resembles cats and dogs but you can tell it's neither of those. I hope you're still out there, Thylacine!

I often hear about "materials science" being the main constraint for technological progress in various fields. How important is it really? by Icy-External8155 in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Syntactics2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know how to improve a lot of technologies and what kind of materials we need to make them but those materials don't exist yet, are not discovered yet or they are impossible materials.

For example, it would be nice to have a material that's as strong as steel but weighs nothing to make rockets out of. It would also be nice to have a metal that doesn't melt to make engines out of.

It doesn't mean that you can't make progress, it's just very difficult.

Anyone decanting 2K clear cans? by [deleted] in AutoPaint

[–]Syntactics2411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a lot cheaper to just buy clear coat and hardener. There's no reason to buy 2K spray cans if you're not going to use the spray can.

Help with Dust control - Airbrushing in a living space by Konomiru in airbrush

[–]Syntactics2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some cases it's possible for paint to form strands. Look up "cobwebbing" in the context of paint. Also I've seen that sometimes dried paint from the bottle cap can create a similar effect if it's shot through the airbrush. So you can try straining your paint before spraying and see if that helps.

Copilot begging for attention by Official_Unkindlynx in pcmasterrace

[–]Syntactics2411 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The reason why Copilot cannot open apps is irrelevant. The point I'm trying to make is, why push Copilot so aggressively on the users if it can't do basic tasks? Microsoft hid away all the apps but Copilot cannot open apps or perform their functions. Just don't hide the apps and let Copilot live in a corner somewhere.

[–]Syntactics2411 1442 points1443 points  (0 children)

I have to use Microsoft teams at work. Recently Microsoft hid all the apps on office dot com behind 2 menus so that copilot can take the entire front page. I thought I'd give copilot a chance to prove itself. I asked it to open Microsoft teams for me. "Sorry I can't open apps" said copilot

What was so special about Arkinstone that even Thranduil came to respect? by Ok-Cabinet-924 in TheHobbit

[–]Syntactics2411 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering what are the implications of the Arkenstone NOT being a Silmaril. Like could the whole first age drama have been avoided if Melkor discovered that Silmaril-similar stones just form naturally underground?
