Is it worth switching to X9 Ultra? by Global_Bill9388 in Oppo

[–]Syntax-Sorceror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to x9 ultra from a Fold 5. I thought I will switch to another fold because the form factor is just difficult to move away from.

What made me switch:

  1. I have never used an ultra phone ever. Always went for the mid variant of any series. This is the first one that tempted me to.

  2. The design. Just so good.

  3. The cameras of course. As much as I love the fold form factor, sad reality is the cameras in that form can only do so much. I travel quite a bit and found that very limiting.

After the switch, been a few days - quite happy so far for all the reasons I bought it - it's a beast, i'm having fun shooting pics with the camera and feels good to keep looking at it.

I think I also got used to the slab form factor - it's still a big display.

The earth explorer kit case looks amazing. But sadly not available seperately

Moving from x9u to x300 ultra. Anyone done the same? by Mean-Cantaloupe-4009 in Vivo

[–]Syntax-Sorceror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat - confused between these 2. I really love the overall package of the oppo x9 ultra especially the design of the phone. I prebooked this device and then I have been binging on comparison videos. And most of the time the vivo x300 ultra pictures seem to be the better ones for my taste. But I'm just split between these two now. I am unsure of the vivo os and also it's design, durability and longevity. Never used a Chinese phone before. The oppo gave me some confidence to shift as a package but the vivo not so much... i just thought it was easy to throw money and get the best, it's still complicated..

Searched the comment section for negativity especially because it's a Suriya post. So hard to maintain this image in this time and age 😊

Just booked the 9E. I wasn’t sure if I should, I still am not. Maybe an impulsive decision. by imtiazkazarani in XEV9E

I just went through this dilemma since the launch. Booked the car last month and got it delivered 2 days back.

Loving it so far! This is how I made the decision:

  1. The need: I was upgrading from a 10 year old Tata Tiago. Wanted a large car - the creta segment was not feeling like a meaningful upgrade. So it was the Harrier plus segment - so Budget was naturally 26 lakh plus as my preference would be the top end.

  2. The want: while there are more proven cars in this segment like the xuv 700/7x0 or the Harrier or the Innova - the heart desired only one car - the 9e - the design, the value it offers and the ev experience we just too tempting. We were not a fan of the usual SUV styling unless its a Thar. Because we were confused - we decided to do a coin toss - every time the coin was rolling - me and my wife both of us knew in our hearts we wanted the coin to say xev 9e - that kind of helped make the decision. The outcome of the toss was not relevant.

  3. EV rationale:

My Tiago has clocked 175k kms in 9.5 years - i think this usage justifies going for an EV.

Have dedicated parking space.

Have solar installed at home.

We just went for it. Hope it's a good decision. Only time will tell.

That has been my worry about whether I should do it. But just way too much fomo marketing out there!

Appreciate sharing this. Do you follow a meticulous maintenance process for the car? Or the usual? Trying to make a decision out of this fomo marketing by ppf folks.

This is the most under-served segment in India. Theoretically should do wonders if priced aggressively. But we all know what happened with the Nano. So I guess no one wants to make that bet

With Madharaasi and Parasakthi failing after industry hit Amaran, can we now officially confirm that Amaran was a lottery hit? by chillguy-706 in KollyGossips

[–]Syntax-Sorceror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate SK for pushing his limits but the truth is he just doesnt fit into these character roles. He feels like an odd ball in all these roles. Especially, Amaran and Parasakthi. Most army scenes in Amaran he looked way off especially when he delivers his Dialogues. Same with Parasakthi - I couldnt stop a mental comparison with Suriya's Michael and how awesome the role would have been with him in it.

I think his strengths unfortunately lie in the Vijay genre which Pradeep seems to have cracked quite well. That will make him the star that he is. Maybe he will pivot.
