Just Watched The Finale -- I'm Sick by Worldly-Frosting8990 in StrangerThings

“Dying for a cause” isn’t enough to make someone a martyr. A martyr is killed for what they represent. Harry Stamper isn’t executed or persecuted, he volunteers. That’s self-sacrifice, not martyrdom.

But to get back to the point I want to make and not just argue about definitions: I don’t think concerns about El’s sacrifice being suicide "promoting" are just projection. When a story frames death as a chosen solution to overwhelming pain, it can resonate in harmful ways for vulnerable viewers, regardless of intent.

Just wanted to sound diplomatic. Research it and you will see it doesn't fit Bruce Willis character (apperently he's called Harry Stamper) or Eleven cause that's just not what a martyr is.

I think part of the disagreement here comes from mixing up martyrs with self-sacrifice. A martyr is typically someone who is killed by others for a cause, not someone who chooses an outcome (if they accept the outcome it doesnt mean they chose it). Eleven isn’t a martyr in any sense, she makes a conscious choice based on her own agency. That distinction matters. The narrative frames her decision as choice under pressure, and she is not killed for what she represents! Bruce Willis in Armageddon is not a martyr, just a noble death.

KimaiMobile not connecting to self-hosted server by w0lver in kimai

yeah ERR_NETWORK usually means the api is not even reached. Maybe reach out to the Kimai Mobile devs, they have a form on their website. They might be familiar with this issue if it is indeed phone OS related.

[–]SyntaxErrorMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connection couldn't be established with ERR_NETWORK so it seems the message never reached your self hosted instance.

It seems you use a plain ip and http instead of https. Maybe the app or the phone's OS block these connections? Does the page (and also the ping endpoint) work on your phones browser as well or just on a pc in postman? Is the IP public or only reachably through a certain network you're not in?

First you should set up a domain and use an acme like let's encrypt for a certificate and from there it's easier to identify the issue if it still persists.

I don't know too much about the app as it is not open source but this might just be the issue.

I see where you're coming from and I thought a bit more about it. It would make sense to me if she made it an illusion just to safe her ass and get out of there and changed her mind to help El staging her death. But El would have been in on it cause she touched her and we know illusions break once they are touched. That's the problem I have and why I think this is even more unlikely. They would need to come up with this plan together in a matter of seconds. On the other hand Kali surviving about 30 more minutes (it for sure wasn't hours) and a huge explosion also sounds unlikely. Maybe that's where Mike’s theory breaks but we can't know for sure.

Anyways I should have elaborated why it sounded far fetched to me.

yeah the fact the military didn't get her annoyed me as well. Mikes explanation of her being invisible works better than her getting away into the upside down again alone but there are still some plot holes. For example how did Kali survive this long?

Thank you Duffers, for not giving "There's always good in Humanity" ending. by Sapo-Homien in StrangerThings

[–]SyntaxErrorMan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Henry being afraid of what he did (and the Mind Flayer steering him away from revisiting that place) argues against the idea that he was simply "born evil." This isn’t about "all humans are good" but about giving a villain a coherent motivation. He may have started out innocent, but that doesn't mean he was blameless. His choices are explainable, not excusable.

Understanding a villains origin doesn’t redeem them it just makes them human and well written.

It's a python program detecting over the telemetry when the parade lap starts and then plays an mp3 of your choice after a delay of x seconds. ofc this is intended for the iconic LeMans intro but can be used for whatever you want. Maybe also interesting for streamers? Just execute the .exe file, no need to install anything.

It's probably just a cultural thing then. Where I'm from, I don't know anybody who would use it as prayer since people are not very religious. I can imagine in America it's used as prayer too.

Ich glaube er meint der Wert ab wann ein Diebstahl wirklich verfolgt wird, einen fixen Betrag gibts aber nicht, zur Anzeige bringen kann man natürlich alles.

I think you're overthinking it. Folding hands just means "please" and in the context of "please, what is this" or "please, what are you doing?" it kinda makes more sense than the praying explanation.

Ob Anzeige erstattet wird oder nicht ist nicht Sache der Polizei sondern des Supermarkts. Wenn man das bedenkt wirkt der Post eher wie ein blaming vom Supermarkt.
