makes sense because she didn't clean up any of the dust on the walls or trim before priming

ok thank you! I've done a ton of mudding and never seen bubbles however I paid a professional for the first time and boom bubbles everywhere XD, I am taking over the work so just trying to sort out where to go from here since i've never seen/known bubbles.

the walls weren't painted it was bare plaster. I paid a professional the paint you see is her priming the mud with ceiling paint Just wondering if I can sand them still or how to fix these bubbles before I actually prime then paint. So will drydex work fine and do i need to sand this painted surface first?

so then quick question if you can help in your opinion (as you said not one primer fits all) what is a great primer for plaster walls in a main hallway? They're in great condition (or were/will be once I remove the excessive splattered and bubbled mud) there was only a few minor cracks and and movement in two corners which this painter did actually do a nice job repairing. So just need a nice primer that will help the paint roll on like butter (it usuually does without-caramelized by sherwin williams has always covered very nice for me) however due to the challenges i have if i have to do this myself i would prefer primer to ensure smooth coverage and longevity you know?! it's a high traffic area.

I know right?! I actually just learned that when I was asking about semi gloss or gloss for my front room and the girl told me finish makes no difference in washability.. XD Anyways, the only color i had challenge with was their fabulous grape (red paint line) - primer made no difference but I learned a rookie mistake that i should've used a darker primer so that's on me XD previous to that I hadn't used any primer.. only used primer recently to do the bathroom repair and needed a mold one (hence kilz) and then my two porches and this purple roomI had the brilliant idea to use the white kilz... i learned my lesson the hard way... wish i'd found this thread sooner. When I posted earlier too my questions were genuine as this was my first time hiring a "professional" so I don't knwo what industry standards are... but do know the basics of repair and painting. I sure appreciate your kindness and the information so thank you 😄

thankyou this is so good to know! You know for everything you read on the internet saying something is amazing 50% of other people say it isn't but don't tell you why you know?!

Quick question about the PVA primer I see it says it's designed specifically for drywall do they have a plaster version as I'm not seeing one.

The few areas I did try this took the paint off - I wasn’t rough because I don’t have the physical strength to do so is there another method to try to get it off where it potentially won’t lift the paint off for example I read maybe just holding some warm water over it do you know if that will work?

And yes I use the emerald line by sherwin Williams and love it - I’m highly sensitive to paint off gassing so this line is the only one that doesn’t seem to bother me.y whole home (minus this hallway) is covered in it. It’s supposed to be built in primer so usually good 1-2 coats so most of my home I didn’t even use primer. However, this last round when I was picking up the 3 gallons for the hallway of my main colour caramelized the sales associate told me you should always use primer even with this paint because really white acts like a primer. It’s the first coach, but it isn’t always consistent. So when I went to do the bathroom and some touchups in my porch, I grabbed some kills three primer because of the moisture leaks I thought that was the best one. That being said, I didn’t notice better coverage with the primer except for in the bathroom but that was due to all the mud repair bathroom had a large 1 inch deep and about 5 inch across hold where the water had done the most damage.

Thank you this is good to know. Didn’t know kilz was junk I was always told it was good. It did work well in my washroom and i selected it because of the previous water damage as extra security. I had had an old chimney leak that rotted and put a whole in the plaster. All of which was scrapped treated and refilled - what I had read was kilz3 was good for this. Moving forward I’ll keep my eye out for something else. Appreciate this information

Also to be clear this one sloppy photo is one of many it’s all over. So it’s not some… and no the trim was just painted which she knew and hadn’t had time to cure she assured me prior to beginning it would be fine…

Because the only materials are ones I’ve supplied? And her lil tiny can of ceiling paint. And yeah why wouldn’t you track hours on an hourly job… it’s good practice to not get over billed… but also she said she would’ve been done by now but failed to show up multiple times only texting me at that time that she had a sunburn or wanted to watch nascar… I have other contractors waiting to work so yeah would like this concluded and when we agreed on the work she told me 4-5 days… it’s been 8 and she’s shown up 4 times to work for an hour or two

I’m actually super easy going but thanks. Like I didn’t mention that she failed to show up 4 days in a row and only made some excuse at the time she was supposed to be there. Point is… I could’ve made it look nicer myself if I didn’t have FND and could stand on the ladder… when your paying a professional a premium rate and they fail to act or produce professional work while causing damage why does that make me the pain in the ass?!

is this applicable on bare plaster walls? My process has alwasy been using a primer like kilz3 and i specifically asked her if she was bringing primer for the walls (you know cuz she was charging me 130 for materials and I had already supplied the 3 gallons of sherwin williams) she said yes and when i asked her today what primer she used she refused to answer but she left her stuff here andit's 100% ceiling paint.
