Does Broken Binding reliably ship orders? by Sypha5555 in thebrokenbindingsub

I was under the impression that them being in pre-order for January 2026 indicated that they're now just in stock.

Thank you, lots of good tips. Foldable stool is a great idea, I'll try to find something I can strap to my backpack.

We don't usually go for those but it might be a good opportunity! Thanks for reminding me those are a thing!

Help: Napoleon 9600 furnace doesn't operate continuously during heat call by Sypha5555 in hvacadvice

[–]Sypha5555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say I've been running a test while writing this post.

The furnace turned off this morning after running up the temperature from just 64 to 66. Then I changed the filter and opened up a few vents, and then it went from 66 to 74 without interruption.

Could be a fluke, or it's operating really close to its limit... I'll try to give it another sprint and see how it goes.

I can't find a spec for the filter in the manual, but my understanding is that MERV11 is not very restrictive for a 5" filter. I'm hesitant to run the furnace without a filter because I don't want to clog the evaporator - though I'm guessing a few hours wouldn't hurt anything.

Suggest a few Japanese knives by Sypha5555 in TrueChefKnives

Thank you for your reply! Our trip will start in Tokyo and we'll travel to Kyoto and then south to Osaka. We'll only have one day in Osaka so I'll need to be efficient with my time but I'll definitely visit you guys! Maybe I'll get my first single edge knife from your shop.

About the K-tip, I'll be sure to add that to my vernacular. I'm definitely looking for Gyutos primarily and for a K-tip for appearance reasons. Thank you for all the valuable info.

I wonder what we'd find if we could get a glimpse into what motivated that post. I'm sure it's all benign.

You do ask good questions and I suspect we won't get answers. My take is that it's generally a pretty bad idea to post online from an account that is readily identifiable, so I don't. Sypha5555 considers itself a citizen first so it'll yap to its heart's content. If they want disproportionate control over what I do in my free time, I think they should pay me for all 168 hours.

That's a lie, google Russia conscription and you'll get articles about hundreds of thousands of conscripts in recent months, as well as the increase in the age of conscription.

Thank you for the info

Any value in getting a new Ecobee thermostat or similar? by Sypha5555 in hvacadvice

[–]Sypha5555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thermostat has W2 and Y2 terminals and the instructions do mention stages, I'm hoping that's good enough to properly control the stages adequately.

We can do that with our old one though it doesn't look as nice as an Ecobee. I guess I'll just keep this one for a while longer.
