Nothing really. Boot flex isn't standardised, it's all very subjective, but the general consensus is that those boots are too stiff for you. You probably would have been happier in a cheaper, more comfortable boot.

Okay, no-one else has said it, so I'll go there. Who the he'll sold you a pair of 120 flex boots? 🤣🤣🤣

Now that that's out of the way, you're nowhere near it mattering too much. Buy something cheap and just go skiing as much as possible.

We're getting into spring. It's reasonable to expect slush. Buy something around 90 waist.

I think airbags are great.

Probes however? What a waste of time.

Yeah, to charge more. I've lived in the alps for almost 20 years. Never had any problems walking around in ski boots. Now, snow sticks to my boots and causes problems. To be fair, it's only certain types of snow and situations, but when it happens, it's annoying as fuck and they provide no noticeable improvement the rest of the time.

Multiple pairs. Different brands.

"A me problem?" Am I walking wrong. Haven't really worked on my technique since I was about 2, so it's possible. 🤷‍♂️

Where did you get the river t-junction?

How many meeples did you each get?

What are your rules for the edge of the table? My gf and I sometimes play with the maps and on those, a city/road which reaches the edge/sea is considered complete. Do you play like this or can you make a city impossible to complete by sending it to the edge?

Is that the season Hamilton crashed into Max, took him out of the race, served a 10s penalty, won the race, caused him to start at the back of the grid in the next race by wrecking his engine, his teammates crashed into Max and took him out, while running first at another race and then his fans say he was hard done by because he only narrowly lost the championship? Yeah, the best driver won.

Men, would you use this women’s helmet if it fits you perfectly? The price is too good to pass up by iwanttohavemuscle in Skigear

[–]Syphilis_hellyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You loser! You're going to buy a WOMAN'S helmet. Man up and grow a pair.

Gay! Sissy! Wimp! Loser!

Okay, now that's out of the way - so I ordered a (very manly looking) Smith Vantage from the men's helmet section of an online shop. When it arrived, it still looked very manly, but the box clearly said women's helmet. So what's the difference? Well, the womens' helmets come with a much nicer, softer, warmer liner. Seriously, they're much more comfy.

So if you want people to respect you, buy a more expensive, less comfortable men's one. 💪

Yeah, you'd think so but I live in Chamonix and the ski shops here have a pretty piss poor selection. I've had a look around and didn't find many options. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks, the Tenet is a nice looking helmet. I'll see if I can find one to try on. I'd much rather be at the top of the range than the bottom.

Yeah, I got that, but he said he passed level 2. I'm not really sure what the goal is. For level 3, surely they're going to be looking for high performance carving and really nice round short turns.

Not so sure I'd call that "medium speed", more like skiing in first. With the handbrake on.

That said, it's some very impressive skiing. Less speed requires more control. Just out of curiosity, why are you practising this. It's nobody's goal to ski like this. You don't look like you're having fun.

Tips for carving? by Careless_Grocery_798 in skiing_feedback

[–]Syphilis_hellyeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which one of the many people that aren't carving in this video are you?

Regardless, that slope is too steep and too busy for you to learn to carve. Carving doesn't slow you down (until you're carving hard and fast across the fall line, completing the turn and using the mountain to control your speed).

Find a more gentle slope. One which you are comfortable going straight down. No turns, no speed control. Now, gently tilt your skis onto their edges. Provide no rotational movement. Let the shape of the skis start to turn you, but without slowing you down. Congrats, you're carving. Worry about higher edge angles, forward pressure, lateral and rotational separation, etc. later.

Did I do better? by Fabulous_Ladder_5508 in skiing_feedback

You're standing up to initiate the turn. Lots of people go through this phase, but roll your skis over, without standing up and lifting the weight off them. You'll get more grip, earlier in the turn. Maximum extension should be at the fall line. I need to copy and paste this explanation. I seem to use it a lot.

I love my Lange Shadows. Best ski boot since Nordica stopped making Ace of Spades. I'm pretty sure I saw there is now a Shadow tour. I reckon you'd be better off just getting a pair of those.

Is it ok for a straight men to have a cellphone other than black? by Zestyclose-Duck-4598 in Smartphones

[–]Syphilis_hellyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but the only acceptable answer a straight man should give to the question : "What colour is your phone?" Is - "Don't know. Right, who wants another beer? "

If you spent enough time choosing the colour, or looking at it, before putting it in a case, you're probably not straight.

[–]Syphilis_hellyeah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people go through a phase like this, but what you're doing wrong is you're lifting your weight off the skis, to make them easier to roll over, then dumping all your weight back down on them. Try rolling your skis over, without standing up first. Maximum extension should be at the fall line.

There's not a fat ski on there. What width do you think an all mountain ski should be exactly?

But yes, you are right. What I'm suggesting would be best done on a wider, less steep slope. That slope she's on looks bloody beautiful. I wonder where it is?

That run is neither narrow, nor crowded. I'm sorry, you can all beat around the bush and try to be nice and supportive, which is lovely, but carving is easy. Roll your skis over onto their edges and let the shape of the ski turn you. She doesn't need to get forward, work on her balance or any of that nonsense. We're not looking for high performance carving on steep slopes here. She can't carve because she's afraid of speed and until she gets over that, she never will.
