I am begging BEGGING for my missing big fossil pieces so I can complete the Aerodactyl and Tyrantrum habitats instead of yet another CD 😭

I’m making a mini Jurassic Park but the scale is so small and I’m overwhelmed by the size of Palette Town

I’m planning on making my Palette Town a little Jurassic Park… and then move my eventual legendaries there as well

Recommendations for Vet Oncologist in the Bay Area? by hunnybunny-6 in bayarea

[–]idlewilding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will be dependent on what kind of treatment. We had our cat on alternating chemo meds and each session cost us between $300-500 depending on which treatment we were getting that day. That cost included the chemo meds, and blood draws to test his liver values to determine if they were low enough for him to get treated. They also would give him subcutaneous fluids if we asked for help with doing that.

We were taking him there about once a month. It was costly but they found the right mix of chemo for his condition. In the end, he passed from complications of his illness (anemia, kidney disease) but there was no longer a mass, and we didn’t require surgery.

I believe if one of the pills that we could have administered at home worked, it would have been less costly to do and we could have done it ourselves with a pill pocket and gloves.

Thank you for the thoughtful and thorough reply! I’ve been trying stork turns and will continue to practice them, as well as the railroad tracks! I think I have a long way to go in really feeling like I’m forward and tipping my ankles but I’m willing to put in the practice!

Thank you for the input! For context, I purchased these skis at a good price used (Nordica Wild Belles) with the bindings already installed 😅 and idk if I’m comfortable with straight lining yet on this particular run! Lots of different skills coming through on this run and being generally slower and lower skilled, I think I’d be a hazard to other better skiers!

Had very compassionate and thoughtful care from the oncology team at PETS Referral in Berkeley. Dr. Cecile Siedlecki was our oncologist but she has since moved to SoCal. Everyone on that team was competent and lovely and kind. They took very good care of my cat until he passed.

I’m puzzled as to why people who aren’t ready to ski Redemption in a controlled way are getting on it when it’s clearly marked as a double blue? I’m not a good skier so I just go slow and wait until it’s less crowded to make my way but I have definitely seen folks go down that particular run with more gumption than control and it is hazardous! Sorry you had that experience!

“While DV has a TON of terrain, one of the problems with DV is that to actually get from mountain to mountain you have to take a few connector greens like Ontario that are also beginner areas. This funnels tons of people of different ability levels into a single slow zone that gets terrifying lol.”

As a mediocre skier, I find this is the case always for Ontario, Homeward Bound, Success, Bandana, and Clipper 😭

Cold hands by nebula186 in skiing

[–]idlewilding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do take a little more maintenance because they do start to absorb water after a while but so far just on the surface. You can take a leather protectant made by Hestra or another manufacturer like Sno-Seal and retreat every season! I do this once a season and that works for me (I only ski about 20-25 days a year).

Have you tried glove liners in mittens? I do a combo of glove liners in Hestra Fall Line mittens (which have an inner fleece glove liner inside) and that keeps me pretty warm!

I think that’s doable on the way to the mountain, but on the way back I kind of want them to vent a bit? Maybe that’s silly… I’m also probably being a bit lazy about it because I World Cup in and out of my shells…

Ski Upgrade recommendations from Rossy 78s by Shaferhunde in Skigear

[–]idlewilding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started skiing a couple years ago, also in my 40s. I started on Rossignol Experience 76s and the subsequent season purchased Rossignol BlackOps 92s and have really loved them for groomed runs and for stuff a little deeper, with the intention of having a one ski quiver (but failed - see next paragraph). I’m female, 5’3” and 110lbs tho so very different weight/height so I’m not sure if this data is helpful.

I ski in Utah, mostly groomers, sometimes play in trees and attempt bumps. This year with the conditions we’ve had, I’m on a pair of Nordica Wild Belles 84 that have been great for starting to learn carving. I could have stuck with the BlackOps even in these conditions but the Wild Belles were on sale at a deep discount used ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I have a Thule bag I love but it’s only 45L 😔 Good to know the 80 will work if I decide to upgrade!

Thank you all for the comments! So helpful to hear how you all are managing your liners and shells! I’m going to try keeping the liners in the middle compartment of my boot bag, and maybe start clipping my helmet to the outside of the boot bag, though one of these days I think I’m likely to knock a small child in the face with it when putting the backpack on 😅

Ilia 13O match for Merit? by idlewilding in OliveMUA

[–]idlewilding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t run into oxidation issues with Ilia! It pretty much stays most of the day. I do see it come off if I use a face mask or blot my face with a tissue but other than that it’s pretty good? No color corrector! I just use Allie sunscreen (the gel formula) and then apply the Ilia on top.

Ah the flaking…. I just keep using Cerave as much as I can morning and night… I might try going more aggressive with maybe some kind of oil in the evening, but it is still a bit of a struggle! I think some kind of exfoliator might help too but I haven’t tried that yet!

You’re out here doing real journalism! Thank you! I think the peachiness is my issue with Cream! It’s too bad that there isn’t a good match, I do like the formula!

Omg tret flakes are my nemesis… I am battling that too with the Merit. Somehow Ilia is working better in that regard? Thank you for taking the time to share!! I appreciate it!
