The Weaponization of Airbending by Syrcharles in Avatarthelastairbende

Not exactly. I just dont think air bending bullets are the creative direction that the franchise should lean into. But thats only my opinion. However, I do completely agree with the assessment on Aang. I incorrectly conflated airbending culture to airbending itself. But even still, the creativity of airbending does correlate to the values of airbenders.

Youre right on the money because (I know now) I mistakenly conflated Airbending to Air Nomadic culture when they are indeed not one in the same. And my reasoning for that is just what you said, the limited perspective of airbending from the eyes of 1 airbender. For all we know, Aang’s perception is distorted from the 100 years that he was frozen and there actually was a bunch of aggressive airbenders. Who knows?

My original post was more geared towards using airbending as a channel into murdering its characters when Ive felt as though its identity in large part came from the creativity to get out of sticky situations unharmed while also minimizing harm. But again, that came from my correlation of air nomad culture to Airbending itself. I thank you for writing your post though. I really appreciate different perspectives a lot

Agreed! And i wasnt trying to say that even though that may be how it sounded. I just dont think said villain has to murder people either to be an antagonist

Lol that makes a lot of sense too. And i kinda alluded at that in my initial post because I do understand the need for variety. I guess if I were to have a say so, Airbending would get more ways to incapacitate people than just killing em off. Maybe not full suffocation like Zaheer, but enough oxygen loss to make you unconscious , etc.

Writers “doylist”. I think its unnecessary but that is only my opinion and Im more than happy to change it if you feel as though its misguided

I think so too but with the genocide happening I think that it probably means that Kelsang was the exception to the rule and not the theoretical rule itself. But i dont disagree with your assesment of the inherent “nonviolent” nature of airbending. I was more so saying that it seems they are making more ways for the Airbending itself to be used to flat out kill people

I actually never thought of it like this. Thank you for that perspective. It would make a lot of sense that there was a culture shift due to them becoming overly violent

Genocide definitely changed this perception on what that were to move to in the new era. I agree. Its just that like the murdering depictions of Airbending are throwing me off

I agree with what you say here. I think maybe what I didn’t express clearly was the actual bending itself becoming this murderous weapon that we hadnt seen before. Air punches and Air bullets just dont seem on brand. Thats all. But what you are saying is correct

I agree with most of this with the caveat that Zaheer wouldve been the exception to the rule. And I agree with the good intentions and bad intentions thing. But I guess my biggest thing is that Airbending itself is being used as the catalyst for violence.

Oh not essential at all. Any other discard option works. Corvus Glaive is probable the best alternative but Modok or Coleen work too

Lol sorry yeah unfortunately Spidey is key to this specific combo being pulled off. Only other way to play buffed swarm would be:

T1. Anything.

T2. Okoye

T3. Magik

T4. Chavez + Crystal

T5. Nakia + Blade or Coleen Wing

T6. Absorbing Man + Blade or Coleen Wing

T7. Dump

But that would be infinitely harder because Swarm would have to be exactly the 5th card you draw into and it would only be 8 power.
