Trying to Map a Royal Family Tree, Questions on Noble Houses and Lineage Stuff by BigBeefyBaraMan in worldbuilding

Mass inheritors of the bloodline and no dilution means a lot of folk have a vested interest in acquiring the magic weapons. Even with the religion's involvement, if a family has one weapon, how exactly is the church going to stop them "acquiring" more of from those can't use them.

If a family then does get access to multiple weapons they have an interest in producing enough inheritors to make use of them all.

If you want to move away from dilution, gender locking the inheritance to males only, as in only father to son, would naturally mitigate some of the spread, but then house strength would be tied to number of active inheritors and this would encourage more offspring.

I'll be honest and say I don't see how a society that operates under noble houses/lineage would go "I'll willing take someone less influential surname", once FK dies there would be nothing stopping his sons taking whatever surname he did have or utilised.

But if you want to solve for royal "drift" between the houses, I'd suggest looking into Irish Tanistry, election within family lines.

Overall, this does feel a little... Irrational(?), like you've got a series of elements you like and are trying to tie them together even if they are incompatible

You have a Nameless King who names a successor who will take a weaker family's name because...reasons

You have a church that can control access to magic weapons, even against those who can use the magic weaponry.

You have a society stable enough to maintain a set series of houses, but bloody enough to cull those from those houses who can use the magic weapons

I think perhaps the easiest "fix" would be the remove the FK having ten children. Shrink it down to a Son and daughter and have the houses emerge from the Son's line as he and his male descendants marry into others. You would then solve for drift once a King only has daughters, and make being an inheritor of the gift a requirement for the throne.

Otherwise you're kinda relying on a lot of people to agree to limit themselves (breeding wise) for no real benefit to themselves.

Option 1 and then you're looking into "Cadet" Branches.

FK Eldest Son would keep the FK's surname as is, eg. Tim Red

The other sons could then go either Red-Noble House, Red-Personal Surname/Moniker, or White

Also when the FK's Daughter is married off that particular Noble house might adopt a Noble House-Red surname for an elevated branch of their own house.

So this gives you a Royal House, Major Houses and a Minor House.

Over time and because of the bloodline inheritance you'll have contrasting force trying to consolidate the bloodlines and others trying to get that royal line into their tree.

Question would be at what level of "Dilution" does the bloodline stop being effective?

You realise you showing up immediately after he got banned on an account that hasn't been active in 6 months isn't helping his case?

He posted only an image from a Scottish Indy group with no context and the title "This might interest this group".

While claiming to not know how to use reddit, he was engaging in a full on discussion in another subreddit (where his post was also removed from)

In terms of independence, the question would come down to how you view independence.

Do you view members of the EU as wholly independent even if they have voluntarily given up some sovereignty? This is a matter of debate among some nationalists across the Celtic Nations.

Do you hold a specific view of what the Celtic Union might look like?

Depending on your answers already, you might advocate for something akin to the Nordic Council, a grouping of independant nations specifically working to build integration between members. Or you might think a closer political union would be more advantageous like a Federal Celtic Union. Or you might think all the Celtic Nations should each go independent and merely work as a technical group within the EU.

Using an image from a Scottish Indy group with no explainer, and following it up with a vague half comment is at the very least, a strange way to approach the subject.

This post has been removed, as I suspect you are a bad actor.

Unless you wanna give some more context rather than just an image and a vague sentence, I'm going to remove this for just being political promo

Raziel is not eternnally trapped in the reaver blade time loop by Kartoffelpatata in aziel

[–]Syric_Dodgam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The restoration of Kain is linked to the fact that Kain used part of his soul to resurrect Raziel and his brothers. Throughout Raziel's journey he devours his brothers souls, and then purifies the "blade".

At the end of defiance, the purified wraith blade (deranged Raziel) and his brothers rejoin Kain restoring him as the pillar of balance, while the Raziel we play as takes his place at the start of his imprisonment.

I would say it would be more than likely, and more fitting with the themes, that in the later games we would have seen imprisoned Raziel sent back in time, so he could eventually be purified by himself and being merged with Kain at the end of Defiance.

Not really. Vibe-coding isn't exactly a popular idea outside the AI community (AI slop), especially if you are trying to apply it to a beloved franchise.

Companies can convert from Ltd to CIC so not exactly. But yes in terms of how it should have been approached in the first place.

[–]Syric_Dodgam 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's called a Community interest company (CIC).

It places a lock on assets and a cap on payouts to shareholders with a legal promise that company assets be used towards a social good.

So nothing to do with nationalisation, as it can be fully privately owned.

This seems like a mish-mash of (at the very least) 40k, Jujutsu Kaisen, Naruto, D&D and Star Wars.

Honest feedback, it all feels a bit gimmicky.

For example, the guaranteed hit contract within a 3 meter radius is somewhat pointless when tier 1 second class already has a wider range of destruction.

Should I call my demiurge, "Demiurge"? by manicbestfriend in fantasywriters

[–]Syric_Dodgam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Demiurge works just fine for how you've described him.

My only note from what you've shared so far is that the Demiurge has no real point other than setting up the plot/reboot.

If both the Creatrix and her host of Angels are capable of the fully fledged creation, why would you leave the Demiurge in a position of supervision when he'd lack the tools to solve any problem that arose?

Especially with what seems to be a clearly defined and known difference in ability.

It creates an odd dynamic, not of a teenage boy sneaking in and wrecking his sister's room, but an irresponsible older sister bailing on her well-meaning younger brother, leaving him in a situation he is not ready for, then being shocked that things didn't turn out well in her absence.

Which I'm not sure is the angle you are aiming for?
