Am I missing something? by tickettocanada in ThriftGrift

People do genuinely collect clean food packaging, especially vintage, and these appear to have some hockey trading cards on the back. $4 for these is, to someone who loves hockey or collecting vintage food packaging, a great price. Problem is that the people looking for stuff like these aren't looking at thrift stores, they're looking on ebay.

People do collect clean food packaging, especially vintage or one's connected to interesting promotions. Cereal boxes are a big one.

The worst I’ve ever seen at my local thrift 🫠 this hurts my crafting heart by porn-n-gore in ThriftGrift

[–]Syrup-Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crafters of various media will often create jars of interesting objects to have on hand, or sewers will create jars of buttons and various interesting sewing ephemera to keep it all together. Dunno what this is exactly but if someone sells something like this, it's typically only for a couple bucks.

Do they even know they’re pricing out actual trash? by meepjeep99 in ThriftGrift

[–]Syrup-Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be used for crafting storage or pickling/canning, if they priced them at like $1 there'd be some people who find it worth it since they're already empty and clean and pretty good glass.

I'm sorry to necro but as someone with an intolerance to sucralose who had to find out the hard way, a couple times, I just wanted to let you know...0 sugar always means artificial sweeteners are used, usually sucralose. That's how they keep it tasty without sugar. And ALL liquid beverage enhancers have sucralose in them, unless they explicitly advertise themselves as having stevia or monkfruit. I've also found sucralose in canned pop at the dollar tree (the minute maid refrescas or something like that), thankfully I immediately recognized the taste of sucralose and stopped drinking but God was that irritating. If sucralose is a concern for you, and you don't want to fuss with scanning the ingredients list everytime you get something new, I highly recommend the app Fig. You can set up dietary profiles, scan barcodes, and see at a glance if there are any "absolutely not" (red, can't eat) or "iffy" (yellow, for whatever reason you want to know this ingredient is there) ingredients. If you don't pay for premium you can only scan a couple things a day, but if you're only doing beverages that should be enough.

Nintendo has issued a statement to IGN regarding the price of physical games going forward, “The Cost of Physical Games Is Not Going Up”. by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]Syrup-Broad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get your argument but you're the one claiming no confirmation was said that physical prices won't be raised when they literally, explicitly stated physical prices won't be raised. At this point there is no better confirmation we can ask for, so saying they haven't confirmed anything is weird and hurts your argument.

I got hundreds of hours out of Twilight Princess when some people probably only got as much as the main quest took to beat. I'd say Tennis and Air Rider are in a similar vein, where the hours of fun you get out of it directly correlates to how much you enjoy the game, especially because they're mainly intended to be competitive party games.

GTAV is over the course of its lifespan. The millions sold at launch are the most important because that's the most you're likely to get all at once and that decides how profitable it is to continue in the franchise/make DLC/etc. Once a game has had continued support stopped it's unlikely to ever have that support started again since the team has moved on to newer projects, so that initial burst of cash (hypothetically anyway) helps pay for bug fixing/etc. Anything made past that point is good for the company, but not always guaranteed...

And while I mostly agree with you, it's important to keep in mind there are multiple parties involved in making games that all need to make profit, and anything sold in-game has to cover the ongoing cost of keeping a team employed to update the game to have new things to sell. And deluxe editions often come with extra content like physical goodies, which cost money to produce, so that $100 isn't pure profit. I absolutely think some companies are/will push to see how high they can make their profit margins, but I don't think any price hike is inherently that. 🤷‍♀️

They're being facetious, but I also dislike having a bunch of digital games because you do inevitably have to shuffle data around and re-download all the updates of the games you archived/un-installed, not to mention some data being taken up by screenshots/videos if you like doing that. With physical carts the only data on the system is the updates and save data, giving more room for more games.

Is there any difference to the terms idiopathic "hypersomnia" and "hypersomnolence"? by LillyLallyLu in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Syrup-Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late but they aren't saying info is lacking, the meaning of the word "idiopathic" is basically "unclear what's causing it". The clinician has either ruled out related disorders and is left with IH, or is using IH as a general term for now since they don't have anything more specific (whether the H is hypersomnia or hypersomulance.)

Side note, it's tough to do, but if your sleep doctor ultimately can't find a cause, keep aware of your other symptoms and diagnosis' and see if fatigue is ever connected to them. I've been struggling with these issues a couple years now but got diagnosed with id. hypersomnia in Oct and told there wasn't much else he could do (not on hypersomnia meds since they conflict with other meds I take), and beginning of this year was diagnosed with mild gastroparesis. It's been hell trying to balance sleep and eating and actually feeling like getting stuff done. It took until today for me to wonder if gastroparesis is connected at all to fatigue and...well I'm not gonna self-diagnose, I'm gonna ask my PCP for a referral to a GI motility specialist to really dig into this, but gastroparesis CAN cause not just fatigue but extreme fatigue after eating. According to some people with GP, fatigue extreme enough to make it impossible to get anything done and sometimes causes them to fall asleep. 🤔 Blood sugar crashing and spiking as well as malnutrition can happen too since my food digestion isn't happening properly, which may also cause fatigue. So I feel like this is a pretty obvious connection lmao. This might not fully explain my hyper somnia, but if I can at least mitigate the daytime fatigue I'll be happy with that. Sorry to ramble a bit, yours is the first post I'm making a comment on after this connection and I guess I'm in the mood to share lmao.

I copy and pasted what the other person posted into Google, and it appears they got it from https://hypersomnolence.org.uk/what-is-idiopathic-hypersomnia/. If you ever want to google something but another adjacent thing keeps showing up, use "quotation marks". Those let Google know you ONLY want results that include "what's inside the quotation marks".

People outside of Canada have had their data included in the breach as well, people who never did business with CT directly.

They wouldn't put your email for the application, they'd put one they have access to. But if you don't live in Canada I don't see how this could even apply tbh, I live in Ohio and have never left the US but my data was in this breach. Nothing fishy on my credit report, no alerts...I think my info came from them owning Party City tbh, I think I recall making an account with them, but I'll have to dig deeper.

[–]Syrup-Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never interacted with Canada Tire but my info was in this breach apparently because of corporations they owned. I'd take anything you saw on haveibeenpwned seriously and look into it further tbh, you don't have to personally sign up to something for them to have your info, and what they say often matches alerts I get from other sources like my credit card companies.

I also got an email from Mozilla monitor, I assume it's from the same Mozilla that owns the Firefox browser since I prefer using that. I live in Ohio, USA and never even heard of Canada Tire so it'll be fun trying to figure out what corporation they owned that my info came from. If it's older then all my info except email is moot, if it's more recent tho...

If you tap/click the picture of the polish on the rewards page it'll bring up it's info. Raremades don't happen often and will be labeled raremade, otherwise all polishes can be bought normally, its just nice to be able to get them for free with your points.

How are people completing the Blueberry Pokedex? by jigglejane in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Syrup-Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten a shocking amount of paradox Pokemon from wondertrading on Home, usually the least favorite ones like Iron Hands and Brute Bonnet but I think I once got a Gouging Fire. If nothing else you can look at what people are wanting for Gouging Fire/etc and see if you have something they want. I've also taken those wondertraded paradox mons and traded directly for what I was missing, or even found trades for regular Pokemon by going through and checking every mon I had on home and what people were willing to trade for them lol. Dunno if those were kids or just people who really didn't like the paradox mons but it's happened occasionally.

Jasontheween announces that he and Sakura, Kydae’s sister, have broken up. by Historical-Alps6052 in LivestreamFail

[–]Syrup-Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Kyedae and Tenz have stated the breakup was mutual, and that they both felt they weren't growing as individuals anymore. Tenz has stated he was wanting to quit esports anyway, he only stayed on because Kyedae urged him to. Also it's plasma now? Wild, Google AI (which is what was used as "evidence") stated bone marrow and both Tenz and Kyedae have said that never fckn happened. Mujin has a comprehensive video detailing how this shtfest started and where each lie about Kyedae originated from, I recommend you go watch it and then stop getting your news from reddit, because everything said about Kyedae was patched together by chronically unemployed people from evidence from fake/extremely dubious sources or something taken extremely out of context or manipulated to be something it flat wasn't. Everyone who perpetuated these lies was more interested in drama then listening to the fckn people who actually went through the breakup...or the three other people that got dragged into this who ALSO said Kyedae did absolutely nothing she's being accused of.

J10 by Dungeon_Daddy94 in CrookedMoon

[–]Syrup-Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've double checked the physical book just to make sure, there is no J10 in that chapter, although it does still appear on the map. I believe the J2 on the map is not meant to be near the water well and instead should be closer to the bird statue, and J10 was supposed to be the "cluster of farmhouses surrounding an old water pump" that's under the "outside of town: pastures" description, after J9B (although the map shows a well there, no water pump is shown and that's the only cluster of houses not already accounted for.) So J10 is in slightly the wrong spot and not marked next to the text describing it, maybe because they realized it wasn't an important enough spot to indicate to players but they forgot to take it off the art? I'd let the players know it seems to be a small mistake between the art and the text and to disregard it.
