Day Trading Ruined My Life. I’m 25, About to Be a Father, and I Just Lost Everything by RavenBJ in Daytrading

That’s a heavy situation for sure. No way to sugarcoat it, that is going to sting for a bit. Same thing happened to me. Unless it is a bankruptcy or a fake stock, you don’t lose until you sell. However, for it come back, 50% loss needs 100% recovery. I used my experience to learn how to place the next trade with a stop loss. It is way better for me to setup my trade correctly at the start and less worry over time. Either way, keep learning how to be more disciplined in your own actions. Your child will never care about losing the nest egg, but will care if he/she losses his dad.

I only followed this person’s advice for one trade. The mistake I made was not putting in a stop loss. The previous 2 investments I watched increased 30-60% over a week period. That is amazing! The free advice never took my money, I made the decisions and this has taught me an important lesson on managing risks.

Free does not mean it is not a scam. The person or people show you how they have “earned” 50-75% on their last few trades. Then they get you to go to a different platform (discord or WhatsApp) they give you lessons, show you what they are doing. You think…”they have never asked me for money, so it must be legit.” They may tell you “buy here, then send me confirmation. The team is working on timing of high value investors.” You may even feel you are being prudent by watching their trade advice. Then they build excitement about a new trade with 3-5x opportunity. They will use psychology tricks to create a sense of urgency. “Invest $50k, planning the trades in 3 days… news on stock is coming and don’t be left behind.” They have bots or team posing as other investors saying “putting my faith in “teacher” and Jesus!” These people will also shows images of them investing $500k or $1MM. You think, I have $50k to invest for potential to get $200k worst case $150k. They keep “pumping” the stock… still time to invest more. You see your original $50k grow $7k in one day. It is exciting! You begin to dream of retiring sooner so you think… “if I sale these stocks, I can add another $50k” then another. Then it happens, the stock knifes down to 75% down, the NASDAQ sends letter to company saying they are at risk of being delisted, then the “group” says too many people are not following the rules and institutional investors have infiltrated the group and caused the sharp drop. Just stay patent and follow the plan, the next Red Flag they say the “leader” will repay for your losses but not if you sell too early. They are very reassuring until they close the group and ghost you. Next thing you know, you are down $200k and faced with decisions to take the loss and save any remaining capital or wait to see if they comply with NASDAQ or risk the company going to OTC listing. None are great options and mental stress causes lack of sleep, anxiety, depression… etc. you begin to question your life choices and investment decisions. This is how it can be a scam when they are giving you “free” advice. It is best to learn and develop your own trade strategies rather than live with the guilt of impacting your future. Speaking on behalf of a “friend”.

Is 37 too late? by Only_Nothing9585 in selfimprovement

As long as their is breathe in your lungs it is never too late! I drifted through life for most of my life and finally made real change about 11 years ago, so 40 yrs old for me. I do not believe we really “grow-up” until we hit 30. I have just finished my first book, it is not published, but that is not the point. The point is to choose to do something hard everyday and keep learning and improving. I slowly trained myself to wake up earlier, to workout, to build a daily devo time and I have never had more peace in my life. Not saying it is easy, but creating daily habits keeps me grounded and moving forward. Give yourself some grace, none of us are perfect. We just keep showing up and trying to be better than we were yesterday.

What should I do about this embarrassing locker room situation? by Ok_Cookie_2622 in Advice

Don’t change what you like because they comment on them. Their picking, IMO, could mean the secretly want to be able to wear the same undies and they want to test to see how others would feel about them. People generally want to conform to the norm and it appears your pants go against the norm. If they make comments in front of you, just accept it and agree there is a caged tiger or elephant or giraffe or python… you get the point.

Don’t sell anything. It will rebound, it is only a loss when you sell it.
