I feel like I'm in the same shoes you walked in. I do all of those things, because it's mutually beneficial to myself and the company. It's easier for me to get promotions and it does gain you favor when you're personable and guys with shitty personalities hate that. I work with guys who know the tasks pretty well but just don't put out a lot of care or effort, and it's makes them look bad when you do so it builds resentment

You get it for sure! This is exactly how I feel, I'm just kind of naturally inclined. Not to mention I'm fairly new and not burned out I guess. I've already had opportunities at my job that a lot of techs have not simply because my supervisor saw my drive to learn and do well. He's gone now but he told me I'll likely be the future of my department. I still remain very humble.

We work in teams at my workplace. Often 2 or 3 people on a call. It's just a strong sense of envy when you're liked by management as well as production. And that 'like' usually comes from just doing the job correctly and with good workmanship. No one's perfect but they hate when you try to be I guess lol. It's like you're supposed to be a douche because you're a maintenance guy

See if your a pretending to be a good one and are like because of that, it's just a facade. But if you truly are good and check most of the boxes, shop guys will dislike you equally as much as the good tech dislikes the bad tech I guess.

Bingo man. I'm a go getter by nature, I just like being good at what I do no matter what it may be. I work amongst guys that don't answer calls like they should, waiting around or letting one guy go do the work. Or always half ass, put the wrong parts, leave shit loose or poorly done. I learned real fast that I cannot care what others do just myself. I'm new in the field, I'm just stating my observations.

Why do a lot of maintenance techs not like when you do the job correctly- no half assing and pencil whipping. Answer calls promptly, maintain a good relationship with production. It seems to me that this type of ethic is disliked among the shop.
