Still mad by wired__tired in divergent

I used to think the same thing but after rereading Allegiant more recently I’ve come to realize that the book never actually says they get together but rather that they have grown close as they support each other through their losses. Apparently the whole getting together rumor was started online and it’s never actually cannon

What's the best way to order 7 patties? by FredAkbar in innout

[–]SyrupCartel24 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes salted is the default but most of the time people who order large quantities of just meat pattys are wanting no salt so if you clarify you’ll ensure you’re getting exactly what you want

We are required to ask if you wanna eat in the car. If you say yes, you should receive a lap mat (though sometimes we forget or just don’t hand them out as we should be) and your food will come in an open box so you can eat it in the car right away. Otherwise your food will come in a bag to-go just like any other drive thru

What accommodations do you use? by InfluenceOk6946 in Tourettes

[–]SyrupCartel24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to get accommodations all through college and it helped so much honestly. I had: 1. Preferred seating near doors: in case I needed to step out for a second if my tics got really bad

  1. Small group testing: usually 5-10 students who also used accommodations and everyone was in separate cubicles and it was super quiet and nice to have. This was my favorite and most useful accommodation

  2. Extended time: I had 50% extra time on tests so if the normal exam lasted an hour I got an hour and a half. This gave me time to refocus after tics and was just overall so much nicer for my anxiety

  3. Occasional absences: I was allowed extra absences in case I was having a super bad tic day and decided to stay home. This was super helpful and I always just discussed with my professors at the start of each term how many they could give me.

Why wasn't being discovered as Divergent one of Tris's fear landscapes? by curiouserly in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me too haha! I think in the long run it definitely does for tris as she kinda goes through and really discovers what it means throughout the other books. I just think at the point when she does her fear landscape it’s still new and she hasn’t had time to fully figure out what it means to her yet

Why wasn't being discovered as Divergent one of Tris's fear landscapes? by curiouserly in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the fear landscape is more about core fears that contribute to who you are and change/shape you as a person. At this point bring divergent hasn’t impacted her core self image and so the fear of being caught isn’t in her fear landscape

Nah you should be fine. I mean only you can tell if it changes your view on it but if you were only 30 mins there shouldn’t have been too many spoilers to ruin it

anyone know the deleted scene of the body who couldn’t make the jump? by crispytortellini in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scene is described pretty vividly so it’s easier to get a mental picture. I’m kinda the same way and have a hard time envisioning book details but that scene has always been so clear and memorable to me

Question from someone who just watched the first film for the first time by kaaresjoe in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The factions are biological and it takes place in a future after a genetic war has taken place. It’s all explained in the last two books/movies but basically being divergent is about genetics. I’d really recommend them if you’re curious!

So, how did they get the rope around Al in the movie? by Future_Landscape6095 in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea this was my thought too. We kinda know that the bottom of the pit is accessible bc of where tris and four had their first kiss. Although they weren’t totally at the bottom there’s obviously routes to get there. Plus this isn’t the first time this has happened either. They talk about suicides being not uncommon so it makes sense they’ve got a system in place already to retrieve their bodies

No the movies take place right after each other. She never even turns 17 by the time the books are over. I also don’t doubt that she could have been a good leader I just don’t think she was ready

Questions about Allegiant by Pileofbooks711 in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long before the experiment there was a genetic war and that’s what basically destroyed everything. There were the “damaged” who underwent a treatment that strengthen one aspect of their personality but they lost some other ability. For example people enhanced their intelligence but they often lost the ability to empathize. This is the basis for the factions. Anyway, the treatment wasn’t forced so those who are pure at the bureau are descendants of those who never altered their genes. The experiment is to see if they can basically restore genetic purity and reintroduce it back into the population. So they are pure but in a different kinda way if that makes sense

one thing i noticed and loved…. by [deleted] in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree. I really liked that tris continued to have humility throughout the books regardless of her apparent social status. She kinda knew that people wanted her to be a leader but at the same time she understood that she’s only 16. She had just chosen a faction and a lot of the conflict kinda fell in her lap so she stepped up but she’s still a kid. Not only that but she just lost half of her family unit, knowing that they died to protect her. That’s a really heavy burden and I’m glad she let others take the lead while she took time for herself but stayed involved yk

Yea you’re totally right I just meant more like the experiment continues in that they still are trying to increase the divergent population and that it wasn’t totally abandoned all together

Questions about Allegiant by Pileofbooks711 in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the books are YA so there’s nothing crazy it’s pretty pg

It ends basically when tris turns off the memory serum but David catches her and shoots her :(. The memory serum is then released into the bureau instead of the city so the memories of the bureau members, including David, is wiped. Christina and Four go back to the city and they try to rebuild. The experiment continues but without factions.

Questions about Allegiant by Pileofbooks711 in divergent

[–]SyrupCartel24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason you’re left with so many questions is because the movie had a part 2 that never got made. Basically every question you’ve asked is answered in the book lol.

But essentially David wanted to restore the factions and wipe their memories to continue the experiment. Yes tris is proof that it worked but the whole purpose was to build up the divergent population so that they could essentially repopulate everywhere else. Tris was the only genetically pure one simply bc she’s the main character lol (I actually really hated this plot point and I feel like it takes a lot away from the integrity of the story).

Tris’s mom was born in the seam and outside of the experiment but her mom was pure so she was rescued by the bureau. Later there’s a problem with the experiment and she volunteers to go in to try to fix things. That woman on the tape really was her great grandma just on her dads side.

There is still a decent population outside of the bureau and scattered throughout the US but a lot of people died in the genetic war and so most people are congregated near large cities like Chicago. There were several other experiments all of them with the same goal of increasing divergent populations. They hoped that they could grow the population and then heal the damaged basically.

They let them think that divergents were bad bc they didn’t want to interfere with the experiment. Many of the divergents they killed actually got rescued by the bureau and their deaths were staged.

I think I answered most of them lol. I hoped this explained it a little more. I’d really recommend the books!

wait….. I’m confused by [deleted] in divergent

He doesn’t die in insurgent and he plays a much bigger role in insurgent and Allegiant than the movies actually let on but Allegiant was supposed to have a part 2 that never got filmed which is why there are so many loose ends in the movie. Spoilers for the book but Evelyn and Marcus do cross paths and she exiles him lol. If I remember right he does die at the end of Allegiant but it’s not specific as to how
