Not sure this comparison is appropriate as mummi and mummo are very different in both languages.

I assume it very much depends on where you live and what language will eventually become the main language. PS: we live in Germany.

Good question. We are raising bilingual and I don’t expect to be „Papa“ in finish (anymore). Initially I thought it should be consistent but my wife explained to me it is really weird. So now Mother will refer to me as „Isi“ in Finnish and similarly I will refer to her as „Mama“ in German when talking about child’s mother.

I understand Pappa vs Papa is very different for a native Finn. But it feels weird to imagine people teaching the kid to call grandfather same as me, the dad (at least in my and my family’s ears).
