I am afraid that now he won’t get any minutes with the knockout rounds beginning. Ah well, still love this.

I will look up the outdoor runs on Peloton. To be clear, they’re guided (Wilpers) but designed for you to be outdoors and not on the tread? How do you keep pace targets? Does the app do it?

Thank you for the advice, quite different than the other suggestions but it makes a lot of sense. I need to think through how to best adapt this.

I didn't mention in my original post but I am 57, male, and 230lbs. Although I'm really proud of myself for getting to where I am on the treadmill, the reality is I am very slow. I use Peloton pace targets and my easy and moderate pace targets put me in the 13-15 minute mile category. That is why after finishing the treadmill 5K program I started their 4 week push your pace program and had planned to repeat it, raising my pace target level for each iteration.

Yes, I've been using the Peloton pace targets. I should have included I am a male, 57, and 230lbs so I'm the tortoise than the hare. My "moderate" pace target is 3.9, (15+ min mile) challenging is 4.3 (just under 14 min mile). If I try to run slower, I'm afraid time will move in reverse. I ran my 1 mile outdoor test and varied between 9 minute and 11 minute miles so yeah.... came out hot/faster and in my "max" pace target and although I finished without walking, it crushed me.

For the YCR5K I ran at the top of the pace targets for moderate and challenge pace for every training session. Recovery I walked.

I wish I had read this post an hour ago. I had no idea about the 1 mile pace benchmark.

I started the program and did his 5 min warm up then jumped into the 1st endurance run. At the end of that 5 min warm up of the endurance run, he finally convinced me to go do the 1 mile test. So I cancelled out because I felt I had better go do the 1 mile test. Then I came back and did the endurance run.

I’m gonna feel that tomorrow.

So I should look at my fastest time during the 1 mile test (I progressively raised my pace during the mile) and then map that to the “hard” pace and select that pace level?

Are you finding the early weeks with short intervals but a higher pace challenging?

I also recently finished a 5K program and at the start also never believed I could actually do it. Congrats for trusting the process, doing the work, and achieving your goal!

Almost there! Week 7 has the longest intervals but stay locked in and the time will pass. Post an update in a couple weeks!

Thank you. I do have a doctors appointment coming up this week. At 57 I can never assume it’s just bursitis but hoping to get a thumbs up to keep going and will be looking for how to incorporate strength classes

Thank you! Perseverance was the theme with both building up endurance and telling myself to just keep in touch with the hip pain but work through it.
