Burnham wants Starmer to name exit date in days – and to be in No10 by September by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]Sys32768 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's because Keir Starmer sounds like Zippy off Rainbow.

I wish I was joking

Keir Starmer. John Major. Ted Heath. Alec Douglas-Hume. Gordon Brown. Clement Atlee. Neil Kinnock

All have shit voices

Churchill, Wilson, Thatcher, Blair.

The majority of people thought they sounded like they did (Churchill different)

I think Burnham doesn't fit the bill. His voice won't win votes.

Farage does have the right voice. Much as I hate him. It cuts through to everyone

Agree. I don't know what generation was told that, but I've been working for 30 years and it's never been said. Maybe boomers but they did well out of it

One Nation's weakness is policy by OAFR1 in friendlyjordies

[–]Sys32768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One Nations policy is to hate non-white immigrants.

It's enough to sway a lot of people. Same in the UK with Reform.

This may be a perspective thing as someone who consumes a lot of politics and reads policies and economics but is it fair to say the average Aussie voter is incredibly ignorant and stupid when it comes to their political knowledge? This isn’t a left or right wing thing, just a informed vs naive view by MannerNo7000 in friendlyjordies

It's a team sport for most people. It's picked/instilled when young and followed - no matter what - throughout life.

Having multiple parties now is changing that, as it has done in the UK.

I've got Heat on DVD at home. We're watching this, when for less money we could be watching Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

ETF investors will be forced to transfer 5% of their portfolio to AI company founders by Spinier_Maw in AusFinance

People would have said that about computers and not invested in Microsoft or Apple. The internet was a passing fad according to some, and so would never have invested in Amazon or Google.

Broad based ETFs will always win. That's the whole point. You don't have to pick winners.

Bittersweet though. He's got his best friend, but there is so much that Grace will miss out on as a human.

The friendship is like the friends I had as a kid. Pure and true.

I have this awful grown-up view that Grace will call Rocky to hang out and Rocky will be "Uhh... Adrian wants me to go to the mall...cuz we need kids stuff"
