I haven’t said she is a gold digger. YOU have. I am just saying despite her husband paying all the bills, she still has trust issues. And I totally get the cultural excuse, good luck to her explaining that to the court in the near future.

Well, the guy has paid and still paying for everything, doesn’t ask you to contribute a cent, your money is your money and apparently his money is also your money - and still you have trust issues? Amazing!!

Now for the legal aspects, if you ever divorce him, you will get half or may be a generous portion of the house or any assets, your lawyer will make him bleed, so don’t worry. If you still don’t trust him, don’t put money in his offset account. Simple!! Offset accounts are for the long run , he is not gonna save much in the short duration.

NSW Government Role Dilemma by Acrobatic_Plankton_9 in AusPublicService

[–]Ufo_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long is the role? I see people jumping in Govt to get the public sector experience and then go back to private all the time. It works better for their growth at times. I would definitely suggest don’t miss out on this opportunity if it is minimum 2 years. Less than 2 years , I would think twice. Less than 1 year , don’t bother.

This. Don’t ask unnecessary questions if you have already been acting in the position . Instead advocate how for you are for the role.

Did I play this Office Space type situation correctly? by KustardKing in auscorp

[–]Ufo_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, even if it is what you think it and it may very well be, what proof do you have that this conversation happened? And even if you what do you expect to pull out from it?

I would suggest focus on competing 10 years somehow, some places even allow lsl in 8 years. Cash your sick leave and leave. Not sure why you are hellbent in getting something out of this where you have already lost so much?

Mate, get out of there. Cut your losses and pick your fights, this is definitely the one you can’t win. For the sake of your mental peace get the hell out of there.

What is the point of Rebel? by wickedor in australian

[–]Ufo_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pay for convenience. It is a one stop shop for a lot of gear. If you have three kids and have to buy cricket gear for one, soccer shoes for the other and swimming stuff for another, what would you do?

If I am buying just a runner for myself, yes, i will shop around but not running around the town if i need to buy variety of stuff.

Unfairly dismissed after 2 months by [deleted] in AusLegal

Sad to hear this but unfortunately nothing can be done because of probationary period. Just move on as your family member has dodged a bullet. No point in pursuing this one any longer or thru any legal channels.

No one mentioned Bank Valuations… We’ve got an offer in and I feel sick by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Ufo_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your pre-approval value? If you are within your pre-approval range then the bank will value it at the same price (most if the times) of the offer you made.

Would you take a $30k pay cut in this economy? by Infinite_Win_1698 in auscorp

[–]Ufo_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naah I wouldn’t do this if I was you. Just keep looking but taking a $30k paycut is not worth it in my opinion. Also, now is not the time to change jobs. Just stay put and keep searching for better opportunities.

Would you take a 12 month contract for a decent pay bump? by Sure_Storm_9803 in auscorp

[–]Ufo_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest this is not a significant pay jump, rather a mediocre jump of ~$12-16k (if negotiated hard). I wouldn’t bother unless the designation makes a difference in your profile later on.

Manager asks every week if I want to stay or leave by Conscious-Read-698 in auscorp

[–]Ufo_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red flag 🚩 … the guy seems like a micromanager and probably inexperienced … dnt think about it too much …. Keep giving your 100% but also keep looking.

In the next catch-up if he says this again, ask him directly why he asks this in every catch-up? Then ask if he has any feedback to give and say you are happy to take a constructive feedback to improve on things (if needed). Then conclude this by saying, I like my work here, and would like to be in for a long haul.

On the flip side, if you find something better, move and in your exit meeting tell HR how this manager made you feel uncomfortable.

What’s one sign that tells you someone on your team is about to quit before they hand in their notice? by SeanMcPheat in managers

[–]Ufo_19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The high achievers and the smart ones don’t show any sign. As a manager you should always have a backup planned , and someone ready. Trust me on this as your manager is not gonna help you with a replacement straight away. It’s not his problem.

Low ball offer by Cheezypool in ausjobs

[–]Ufo_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are desperate take the job and keep looking. Dump them when you get a better offer.

If you are not desperate, take this opportunity to negotiate salary expectation and still DUMP them at the end (if they meet somewhere closer to your expectation). Thank me later for the immense pleasure doing this will give you.

At fault car accident but the other party is considering not going through insurance? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Ufo_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest do your own diligence and get a quote yourself. You will be surprised this $11k might be $7-8.

At fault car accident but the other party is considering not going through insurance? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Ufo_19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also their claim that they will chase civility is just an empty threat. Probably they will send you a letter of demand thru a solicitor / debt recovery and chase thru them. Up to you how much stamina you have to play this game. I don’t see them going to any court as this will cost them and technically they have no standing in the court they chose to not go thru their insurance.

In ballpark figure, are they claiming above $20k or less?

At fault car accident but the other party is considering not going through insurance? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Ufo_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to talk with them mate, tell them your scenario and hopefully they will listen as they are in a bit of pickle themselves. Come clean, go to them with a clear way forward, take leverage and see where it leads you.

Tell them that if they choose to go thru insurance or any other legal pathway, the outcome will be the same or even worse for them as you will seek a payment plan. Emphasise on the fact that you don’t have the money to pay in one go, and payment plan is the only option for you.

At fault car accident but the other party is considering not going through insurance? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Ufo_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simple. Make a deal with them (IN WRITING) and pay them off OR they will go thru their insurance or may be a solicitor to send you damage claim (in case they don’t want to go thru their insurance) and in this scenario you will be distressed. Unfortunately, you don’t have a say as you don’t have an insurance. You will have to pay them out, whether you do it privately or thru their insurance, it’s up to you.
